imo elden ring and breath of the wild are examples of near perfect open worlds. botw has some issues with repetitive "dungeons" but the main draw of the game is freedom in approaching encounters which, due to the interactivity of the game systems, is massive whereas in elden ring there is so much crammed in here, its actually nuts. every new area i get to its like, "ok i must be getting close to finishing the game, and then i find a new map and realize how little ive seen so far. i havent even been to leyndell yet and i believe i still have to go through leyndell, mountaintop of the giants, haligtree, ainsel river main, lake of rot and farum azula.

I genuinely feel Elden Ring will go down as one of the top ten greatest video games of all time. I've never been so fucking impressed by a game before, but Elden Ring exceeded the absolute shit out of my expectations. I've got 50 hours logged, and I still haven't seen anywhere near everything. I found a random cave earlier that I expected to be a standard mineshaft, but then it opened up into a large self-contained area filled with ruins and platforming, and that was after I thought I'd explored most of the area. There are secrets and hidden zones fucking everywhere, and Elden Ring has consistently rewarded me for indulging my own curiosity and following my intuition when I think "I wonder what's over there?" It's been far too long since a game not only lived up to the hype, but exceeded it. Elden Ring makes me feel like a kid discovering the magic of games all over again. Thank you, FromSoftware.

On most of this type of games enemy encounters feel the same again and again, but in Elden Ring most of the situations you encounter yourself are unique, being from the terrain, the enemy composition etc... youll get sick of the experience when you start missing all the really good level design and bosses in every other souls game. 7/10 unless youre stanning
@perspicacioussimpleton72882 жыл бұрын
@@RideRM1313 I'd say the level design is among the best in Elden Ring. The legacy dungeon really are amazing standouts with really compelling exploration and backdrops. While a lot of overworld bosses are variations of previous ones scattered about, the main bosses at the very least have fantastic presentation. That being said, I can agree that Elden Ring, as much as I've been appreciating it, has reminded me of just how perfect the DS3 bosses are, especially when it comes to the music. I can maybe play a few seconds of an ER main boss' theme in my head, while I can hear just a few seconds of a particular DS3 track, and I instantly know from what boss that track is. ER music is good, but I think it lacks the melodic progression of DS3's OST that would prevent it from sounding generally epic (generic bombastic backing tracks that sound different but aren't too unidentifiable vs melodic orchestral grandeur that differentiates itself every time. In addition, bit a spoiler, but the boss design I'm particular irks me. It really sucks that after you pass the halfway point, some damage becomes nigh unavoidable and Vigor becomes a trivial stat. DS3's bosses are fun because there's solid telegraphs and reactions that you master the more you fight them, whereas in Elden Ring, without mentioning names, some bosses have such insane unreactable combos that one shot you or such huge hitboxes that it becomes unavoidable to dodge. A lot of the time, you feel like you're at the mercy of the boss AI so that it doesn't use particular attacks as frequently so you have a better chance at defeating them. Not to mention, normal overworld enemies adopting a similar design. It's a very mixed bag to be honest. All in all, Elden Ring is a balanced game. You get the highest of highs as well as the lowest of lows. It is, so to speak, the most complete FromSoftware game.

Horse is deeper than a lot of people think. It can legit be used to dodge attacks for one. Depending on the weapon it’s also a fight changer. It’s even good for some staggering jump attacks.
@Jaimyoutubing2 жыл бұрын
Yup. The jumps have i-frames, mounting and dismounting has i-frames, you can use your doubled jump to perform a midair 180 without losing momentum, you can use your left hand equipment on horseback by using the two-handing command (which a lot of people don't seem to know), you can of course do a jumping light attack but you can also do a jumping heavy attack by charging a heavy before pressing jump. Horseback fighting is definitely deeper than most players realize. However, even if it was just as Moist described it, I'd still enjoy itm

That’s honestly a really great way to describe it. I couldn’t realy put my finger on how it just felt different compared to dark souls or bloodborne. Those feel very gloomy, depressing, and atmospheric, you’re traveling in a broken land hanging onto its last threads, or a city plagued by a horrible disease. But elden ring, although some parts of it do feel “oppressive”, it’s more awe-inspiring and epic than its predecessors. Elden Ring is truly amazing, (this is coming from a filthy casual who has never played DS or any souls like game before) I was looking for some map fragments and aggroed this big bear to get the loot near him being the absolute loot goblin that I am, he started absolutely blasting so I got on my horse to flee. Turns out that I lured the bear into a pack of innocent strangers who were brutally mauled by the bear not to mention some guards as well nearby. Not only did I get the loot from the mobs but also got y mana and hp flasks refilled which happens when u kill a group of enemies since I was the one who technically lured the bear to them I guess. The thing about Elden Ring is that knowing FromSoft's history, this is likely THE game they've been trying to make for a long time now but just couldn't make work until now. Demon's Souls for instance was literally conceived as an open world game meant to go against Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, while Dark Souls 2 was also meant to be an actual open world Dark Souls game but had to be scaled back for time and resource constraints (hence why the levels in the final game are so disjointed, because they're parts of a larger open-world map that got smashed together in a Souls-like way). Nonetheless, all the soulsborne games are essentially pseudo-open world in terms of mechanics, thus giving them the experience needed to craft Elden Ring.

From what I've seen, I absolutely love the difficulty this time around. The open structure and bigger sandbox give you so much possible customization, it's like setting the difficulty to easy, except satisfying. I've always felt that way about Dark Souls, but it used to be a potential challenge to make things easy, now it's pretty much just a matter of wandering and gearing up where you can manage, looking at your tools somewhat critically it should be smoother than ever before. Also think about the difference in the grinding experience, you're no longer killing the same undead in the burg, you're just roaming and discovering things, marking stuff for later if you want.

This game shines a light on the sheer laziness and lack of talent almost every big triple A developer in the industry currently has. The fact that a game of this magnitude, polish, replay value, and sheer quality was released barely 3 years after Fromsoft's last game (which was also incredible) is absolutely insane. The rest of the industry needs to take notice of this and Fromsoft should be praised as highly as possible. I almost don't even want to go back to the mundane, uninspired crap that the rest of the industry has to offer. Elden Ring has set the bar insurmountably high and at this point I don't think anyone other then Fromsoft can top it. As a hardcore Soulsborne fan, I can say without hesitation this is the best game in the "series" and one of, if not THE best game ever made. This comment probably makes me sound like a complete fanboy, but I honestly don't care. Never in my life have I played a game that has made me feel like this one does.

The fact that Elden Ring came out shortly after my birthday, and my partner pre-ordered it for me without telling me, and that I just finished playing the entire franchise at its release! It was a perfectly wrapped surprise that, almost 3 months later, I’m still tying up loose ends in my first character with 7 more characters following. I'm over 30 now and even if I'm a gaming enthusiast, for years now my passion for gaming is dwindling. Nothing really excited me anymore. I was easier to entertain when I was younger. And now with age come other responsibilities and passions, so it's also on me. But also on the game developers. In the last 5ish years, there were so many disappointments. So many half-assed games. While I understand that a game is a product and has to create financial benefit for the maker of it, so many games feel like they mostly if not only exist for that. And while I'm aware that Sony and fromsoft don't work for free or are the charities of gaming, i think with this game they proved to me that passionate, well crafted products of this genre still exist. Elden ring made me feel that joy about gaming again. It made me excited and curious. It got me shit angry at "unfair" bosses. It made me experience so much already. It's just a few days but I'm hooked and blown away. "Thank you Dark souls/Fromsoft"-meme applies here, yet in a different way.

Elden Ring makes me so happy. I've played 40 hours since I got it a week ago, which I think is a good amount of time to get a really nice feel for the game. I love that it's getting the attention and appraisals it deserves. This is the best game I have ever played, without a doubt. The entire game is so beautiful and well crafted and this is coming from someone who plays on low graphics. The fighting is so intuitive, fun, and so so very satisfying. I have almost all positives to say about this game. I do have two criticisms, one small, one major, but neither has truly hindered the fun I've had. The minor one is the frame drops, this is barely mentionable, it hasn't happened to me much and truly doesn't annoy me that much. The much more pressing criticism I have is that my enemies are invisible. I know this sounds like a major issue. And when I started playing, I would've inclined to agree, but as I've played, I truly do not mind it. I admit, it makes the already difficult game very hard but it doesn't seem to affect bosses. I would prefer to see what I'm fighting, but the focus feature doesn't make this necessary. I would give this game a 9.8 out of 10 overall.

Summoning them like you do in Elden ring is though, you can just summon them like you're doing a spell to fight almost any mob or boss. Compare that to Dark souls where you need to summon them only before a fog gate, while human/embered and only one particular summon for a boss IF that boss actually has an NPC summon for it that isn't hidden or locked behind some condition. Something I haven't seen mentioned too much is how incredibly DENSELY packed the world is, especially the starting area. I jumped on the PC release for the first day since I couldn't pick up my hard copy until the next day. I spent 15 hours in the very beginning area. The next day I picked up the game on console, breezed through all the notable things I found the first time around and then spent probably another 10 discovering new content that I hadn't found the last time before finally moving on. Not only is the map just visibly huge, but it's so.. complex and layered. You might have 2-3 layers of areas all placed on top of one another. You could have a mountain top side with a cave leading underneath that same plot of land only to find a hidden city/ruin a good 15 minutes further down. You'll end up spending an hour on one small section of map because of the intricacy and layers all of the castles and dungeons and caves have. It can't be overstated how good this game is, and if you're willing to dig for everything you can find? You'll be feasting for SUCH a long time on this.

With my ultra greatsword I can glancing blow the first enemy, and fully hit the second with my heavy.
