Great video, thanks! When you introduce the dry basis, dry solids are taken as bone dry (no water in solids). I am working with data where the moisture content of wood was calculated by leaving the wood in an oven at 110 degrees Celsius overnight. I’m guessing the resulting wood had moisture remaining, so the weight of the dried wood couldn’t be used as bone dry weight. Your thoughts would be appreciated!

Depending upon the sample size, there could be remaining moisture. One way to ensure that all of the moisture has been removed, is to weigh the sample, and return it to the oven for another hour or two and check the weight, if there is a difference in weight, repeat the step until you obtain constant weight which should represent bone dry weight.
