I recently learned a new method of moisturizing which involves the OLC method. Once you divide the hair in 4 or 5 sections, begin massaging the scalp with your fingers to get the natural sebum flowing onto the hair. Then, add a light oil such as argan oil to the hair. Next spritz some water on the hair. Lastly, massage a little cream onto the hair. Repeat this method for all sections. It works for my low porosity hair.

Wow.....wish it was that simple for me! My hair would be dried out in less than two hours if I did not seal it off somehow to lock in the moisture.

Loved your video! I used to be guilty of over conditioning. Love how you talked about how that strains the hair. I learned a name for method that works for me. LOG liquid Oil Gel. My hair is not a fan of cream. Gel actually helps maintain my moisture and style. I also daily spritz my hair with distilled water that has essential oils. My hair loves it🦋

Thank you! Yes, a lot of people have made that mistake of over conditioning. I think I did that once when I first started and it was not good since my hair was in transition. :-(. So happy I have found you on here! Grey Sisters unite! I have been using Camille Rose products and this is the best my hair has been ever! I use their leave in trio collection which is a Honey, a Latte and a Herbal tea Oil. This really has allowed my hair to be super hydrated. Also I have been doing weekly deep conditioning and I am using either Mielle Organics Babassu oil & Mint Deep Conditioner or TGIN Honey Miracle Hair Mask deep conditioner. After about 2 months I notice the difference (less shedding, thicker hair). I use Camille Rose for twist outs and wash and go. Still have not perfected the styles I want (my hair decides what I will look that on that day without my help! LOL), but this week I am totally enjoying the journey :D

Hi! So glad I found your channel. I've been following younger influencers, and although knowledgeable, the grey hair was non existent..I now use the LCO method if seems to work better for me, but my hair still needs this method every 2 days or so. Because I lost moisture so fast I thought I was high porosity. Now I'm not so sure.. although the hair stran in a cup of water test indicated low porosity. I will keep trying to educate myself. Your silver hair is beautiful and I'm encouraged.

Linda Toney Hi Linda! I’m so glad that you find my channel to be an encouragement to you. That’s very encouraging to me!😁👍🏾 If you did the water glass test on your hair and found that it was low porosity but it is still drying out very quickly, check your products. It could have ingredients and different types of alcohol in it that are causing the dryness. Or, it could be a layering problem. The way that you are putting the products on could be the problem. Let me know what you figure out and how things work out for you. 😊

Good morning...I use the LCOG...liquid...cream...oil...grease. That's because my hair is high porosity 4c hair, which in turn drinks up everything this time of year/season. I make my oil blend based on "Naptural85" recipe. I even use her butter blend...basically in spring/summer. My grease is "Blue Magic...Super Sure Grow". Remember...a few weeks ago I stated in a post that my hair isn't shedding...past years with professionals, my hair would shed profusely...thus getting shoulder length hair being cut to 2 inches, because they couldn't figure out how to combat the dryness. Also my hair was relaxed. Right now with this method I can go 2-3 days between a refresh...I use warm water though, because it opens the cuticle of the shaft. The shrinkage is still relentless, although I have soft healthy looking hair.

Hi Margaret! Yes, I do remember you saying that about your hair. :-). I never considered using hair grease after my other products. I might give that a try although I'm pretty sure that I do not have the blue magic grease. I think I may still have some of that Isoplus hair dress that I used when I was relaxed.

I have tried wash n go, loc method, blow dry and reset and twist. The best for my 4cdef hair is old school mama style. A good wash and conditioning, with periodic deep conditioning. My go to creams - Cantu, ArganiCare, Joico, and Shea Moisture products. Oils- coconut and argon. For moisture i like an equal mixture of Lotta Body setting lotion and Cantu coconut milk moisturizer. On rare occasions I use aloe vera juice for moisture . To lock in the moisture- Eco styling gel, Blue Magic , any coconut oil and African hair and scalp oil. I cannot use them all together because they will dry and flake off.

Good early morning and hello from Nevada!! I tell you queen I’ve been natural going on 7 yrs with 2 big chops to scalp. I believe my hair was at its best and much easier to take care of when it was a short TWA, Now that my hair is reaching past butt in length, I’m finding out like you said our hair changes like the season 😂 and requires a lot more TLC. As time goes on, I personally find keeping my natural hair simple, jus works better for me, for instance I wash my hair, deep conditioner. Then I use a moisturizing detangler,.. some kind of curling cream / leavin sometimes I’ll oil my scalp or I’ll just use hair grease to seal or a natural oil such as grape seed, olive oil, avocado oil etc. etc. depending on what my hair wants 😂 then I’ll twist it or braid this particular Vegas dry winter season my hair is loving braids. I’ll let them air dry in a protective style for a couple days to dry without frizzy.. then take them down and leave it styled for few days with hardly no hair manipulation just finger or slightly brush up ino a Updo, and leave in updo for awhile actually this updo I have in now is going on a week or so 🤦🏽‍♀️ long story short .. I Wash condition and leave my hair in protective style with hardly no combing or brushing , if dry I’ll spritz it with 99% aloe Vera juice / water 💦/ glycerin mix since Nevada Desert is so drying and just leave my hair alone let it rest 😂 enjoyed watching great helpful advice .. I’m a published author so we don’t just leave short comments🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️❤️👍🏾#61

I’m low porosity so I usually don’t use oil. Your hair looks beautiful. My hair last about 2 days without re wetting. I’m using CurlMix so I use shampoo , conditioner, sometimes a deep conditioner, moisturizer and the gel. Some times I spritz my hair with water and add moisturizer after 2 days. My hairdresser says most products already have oil so why add more.

Quarantine has given me the incentive to allow my gray hair to grow out without recoloring. I've finally decided to go for it. :-) Your hair is so beautiful! What a gorgeous shade of silver. :-) I'm still very salt and pepper mixed into dark brown hair. The color I've been using has lightened my hair several shades to a milk chocolate brown but the outer layer/highlights have faded to a reddish orange/peach tone. I recently bought a blue shampoo and conditioner to try and tone it down a bit. I also have very hard water where I live in the Upper Midwest so I condition often.

@@TheSilverCrownNaturalGreyHair I haven't either, but I'm SO curious about results with grease. For the leave-in I've been using the Eden BodyWorks Coconut Shea Leave In conditioner, then seal with oil (but sometimes not). I like it because it doesn't weight my hair down, but still feels moisturized. Plus, it's reasonably priced! But yeah...I'm checking out greases to try. I guess you'd say I'm a one product LwO method - liquid with oil. I use a styling milk as my styler and leave-in. It contains argan oil for the O. My hair is fine and weighs down easily. Cremes and separate oils or gels are too much for me.
@TheSilverCrownNaturalGreyHair
@TheSilverCrownNaturalGreyHair 4 жыл бұрын
That is interesting. I hear you though about the weighing it down part. How often do you have to moisturize your hair using that method and do you know if you are high, low, or normal porosity or mixed?
@lnewtonsc
@lnewtonsc 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheSilverCrownNaturalGreyHair I would say my hair is fine and high porosity. The truth is I live for Nov - Jan when the dew points are low. Just this week the transition to 100% humidity started. That changes my routine. My hair loves water and will suck it out of the air within minutes. Clue? When twist out definition disappears. On wash day I moisturize the entire length of my hair. I retwist nightly and selectively moisturize either the ends, the higher porosity sides. Most of the back needs no product throughout the week. Even the best of plans can go awry. 🤯
@TheSilverCrownNaturalGreyHair
@TheSilverCrownNaturalGreyHair 4 жыл бұрын
@@lnewtonsc I can agree that even the best plans can go awry! Sometimes I can do the same thing one day as I do another and the dew point in the air can really make my hair frizzy. It can be frustrating, but that's the nature of coily, kinky type hair; even if it is fine or thick. High porosity hair has it's own challenges!

Hello, I have just started something new because of my thinning and having two bald spots. I'm low porosity with 4c thin hair. I spritz green tea on my scalp and hair. You may need to moisturize more frequently depending on the climate that you live in. also, check the products that you are using for alcohols and things that dry the hair out. This could be one of the reasons you are experiencing such dryness. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! You must drink water and keep yourself from dehydrating or it won't matter much what you do on the outside to tend to your hair.

Good morning sweet lady, It is 5:30 a.m. here in Texas. South Central Texas is where I am located at the present time. I love your videos and views about keeping the hair natural. Other than a pressing comb I have never put any chemicals on my hair. On your channel you have shown different pictures of hair styles and I have worn everyone of those hair styles. Thank you for sharing those wonderful styles. My hair is beautiful gray and silver. To be honest I love it that way and plan on never to color nor add color to my hair. However, I am in my Sexy Sixties therefore my hair is thinning to a degree. My hair class is a 3C class or a 2C class not to sure. The of my hair is a little passed my shoulders. I would like to thicken my hair up some more. Do you have any suggestions about doing so? Please share if you would. Also, to answer your question from your video. I don't like having heavy hair either and therefore I use a cream with a light oil once a week and my hair is just fine. Where I live the water is well water which has a lot of calcium and other minerals in the water. Good drinking water, but hard water on your hair and skin. So, I moisturize my skin daily and my hair once a week. Other than the thinning of my hair everything is great. Thanks for your time and, talents and channel. Hope to hear from you soon. Stay blessed.

Good Morning, Nurse Baker! My hair was thinning as well and I started trying to take in more greens (which I really need to do better about), and vitamins specifically for hair, skin and nails. Now, I can't say that my hair overall is much thicker thant it was before I started, but it did stop thinning out. My challenge now seems to be "retaining length" which I think is more of a moisture retention problem than a thinning problem. Our hair may be around the same class. However, the difference might be in the porosities. Are you currently taking supplements for your hair? And yes, hard water can definately affect the hair and dry it out! Some people use these special water softerner shower heads in their bathroom. I do not! Anyhow, you have to also remember that some of the thinning could be genetics. In which case, it is what it is.

I have what I call confused hair. All my strands are different from crown to nape. I am not a fan of the popular hair typing system. 4c ect. My hair has always thick and described as coarse. I cringe when Black women describe my hair as " good hair" I believe that saying comes from slavery times. I rather think my hair is like the native black cultural women's hair here in Ametica. That being said my hair is now 80 percent silver white with some dark strands. I wash my hair every three months. Sometimes I use a clarifying product , Mrs. Martha's Bluing to brighten my white and silver strands. I use a spray bottle in the morning to wet my hair from ends to roots. Followed by LemonGrass leaving in conditioner. I might use Clear Ice Firmglexable Hold No Alcohol Free gel. I follow that with Extra Vrgin Castrol Oil. I twist roll my hair and wear it all day. At night I losen the twist and comb though with my fingers. I will use a good scalp cleaning oil like peppermint or witch hazel a few times between wash day. I noticed my hair does not break as easily since I am not touching it and multi tasking in it.

Wait! Before my unwanted loc journey began, I found out that the water, cream, oil method worked best for me. For the back of my head, this had to be done quickly 'cause it will not up if I don't seal it fast. It is also still mostly black in the back of my head, (tho' I'm all black everyday!), hence the ease in shrinkage. The front of my head is almost all white, so the strands are like cat whiskers, they refuse to shrink, BUT, they will single strand knot me to the point of death! WHYYY??!!!
