All I know from my afro 4c hair journey after going through the whole 26+ products, arms sore and plastic caps (never did that - too lazy) is keep it simple. I simply asked myself when I was just living my life before black american influence (protective hairstyle , wig/weave wearing) what was my life like. I wanted it to be simple. Just to roll out of bed and go like a normal person - no bonnets and all that. I went back to that. Just wash my hair and moisturise. Obviously with a bit of money what I wash my hair with changes and what I moitsturise with but trust if that stuff ran out I am not stressing. Afro hair is dry that's the nature . It's best friend is water. A few products can give them the same effect but otherwise I just embrace my hair and don't stress. Black people with carribean roots have different textures and type. African hair is not monolith. Find out what works for you. Of course you can make it as complicated as you like - that's allowed. Let's just be honest about the desirable characteristics we are chasing - other types of hair and not our own.

💯 *love this comment I’m always going to look back at this comment for a self reminder ...honestly I don’t do all the extra steps either I wash and moisturize and embrace my hair the best way I can .water is our hairs bestfriend I do believe that . I only use 3 other kinds of products other then water and that’s a Aveeno which I been using that products for everything even as a body moisturizer ever since I was a little baby my grandmother would always use it on my sensitive skin...,Maui shampoo which is a shampoo with no oils and sulfates ,gluten free,no silicones ,no Parabens, no Ales, and is vegan ,pure coconut water and pure Aloe....honestly Maui is VERY good for us 4C low porosity girls, and Cantu for leave in conditioner no oils or minerals ...and whenever I’m not using those I use a water based conditioner all very natural products with no oils or chemicals that can dammage my hair ....sometimes it can get as simple as am just using a natural shampoo with no chemicals and just water after ...have a nice day everyone I hope everyone finds what works for there hair ultimately!!!(:* 🤍🤍🤍

Natural hair community sadly imploded on itself. Top view natural channels are frankly biracial women trying to make a quick buck. Another thing is this obsession with length and loose curls. Type 4 hair can never just "be" got to be highly defined in curls with massive length sad . Type 4 hair is just naturally dry and there is a huge avoidance by any means possible of that.

Hey lol Shea Butter is my go to hair conditioner... I ran out a while back and my hair was as dry as the Sahara lol. Quick tip, boil some water and place your container in the hot water, add the shea butter to the container, this helps to melt the butter. You can then add your other oils easily. My mix usually contains peppermint oil, Tea tree oil, olive oil, Argan Oil, Castor oil. You can add coconut oil if you want lol. After everything has been incorporated, you can remove the container from the water bath. And just let it cool down and resolidify, you could mix it once or twice during this time. I usually do not measure anything but the shea butter should be around 70% to 75% of your mixture. I'll then go ahead and apply a generous amount to my hair and just braid it without any hair extension. My hair stays moisturized for up to 3 weeks no jokes. I have a liquid leave-in conditioner that I'll spray on the braided hair once a week.

Lovely hair. I'm a month into my third natural hair journey and I'm so done with the mixing and concoctions. The more videos i watch the more anxiety i get. I'm about to get the design essentials shampoo and deep conditioner and call it a day. It worked for my relaxed hair years ago, maybe it'll still work for natural hair --hopefully. I'll add a couple natural oils to my deep conditioner and keep a strict weekly wash and DC routine and moisturize every other day, or as needed. But everything else I'm just tired. Im going to give my hair a chance to thrive without all the jumping through hoops, and see what it does.

Low porosity hair retains what u trap in it so avoid too much protein cause it will make ur hair feel like straw so avoid protein products and only use it as needed. Also people with straight hair like whites, Indians, Spanish their hair grows faster because they wash more. Hair loves moisture their hair gets oily which forces them to wash. Even though our hair is hard to deal with when washed but as long as u r going to be home in winter no need to wash ur hair but soak it under water. During the summer do it everyday and u will be surprised to see how much ur hair grows and because it's drinking water everyday it's harder to break so u retain length and avoid shampoos use a clarifying one once a month if u must shampoo more than once use a moisturizing shampoo. Otherwise just use conditioner to cowash hair once or twice a week or everyday if u see fit. Shampoos strip out type 4 hair badly. And use small sandwich bags or plastic wraps on the ends of our hair secured with a rubber band after we moisturize and seal if we r not going to give our hair a drink in the shower daily this will help u retain length and keep hair healthy. It's how I've managed to grow waist length hair in under 5 years. Hair that didn't even touch my shoulder growing up. For us black girls very loose cornrows by our edges and just leave it, wigs r our best friend during winter.

As a low porosity girl with thin & fine hair, these things have really helped me especially in this unforgiving Canadian winter (but I'm still looking for a good leave in conditioner 😭) 1) I ONLY use warm water when dealing with my hair because cold water closes cuticles. I also steam my hair before doing hot oil treatments/ pre-poos 2) I don't use ACV as it also closes cuticles 3) Lightweight oils like sweet almond and avocado coupled with shea butter as a sealant have been helpful 4) Eden Bodyworks Jojoba and Monoi has also helped. I cycle between this and Aphogee Curlific Texture Treatment depending on if I need extra moisture or protein. Both are SUPER moisturising 5) I wash and deep condition every week. If my hair is acting up before 7days, I'll listen to it and wash it immediately 6) I keep my hair in flat twists whenever possible 7) Bentonite clay is key for me. The Aztec clay is too harsh, so I prefer using the Redmond Bentonite Clay because it's sooooooo gentle and very moisturising 8) I also started making the homemade hair butter Ethiopian and Eritrean women use as a pre-poo 🙌

This is amazing because I've done this test multiple times on my channel and it is great to see others spreading awareness because what works for you may not work for the next person as far as hair growth and what products to use you know. 💙💚

You could also use a clarifying shampoo to accomplish the same thing use Taliah Waajid clarifying shampoo and then follow with a moisturizing shampoo

Am enjoying your videos quite a lot. Out of all the deep conditioners I’ve used, nothing works better for me than that Eden body works dc. It’s so good and one of the first all natural ones I’ve tried! I keep that one in my stash! You may want to avoid silicones in your products too to help with buildup and dryness. I do not use them on my 4b high porosity hair. That cream of nature argan oil is overflowing with silicones!! I would only use it after straightening or blowing out my hair to keep it straight longer and as a heat protectant

Wow! Yes, Alberta has a very dry climate; I lived in Edmonton for awhile. I knew you lived in Canada when I heard you mention that you bought your tea tree shampoo at Winners. I love Winners! Also, the mention of jollof rice tells me that you're Nigerian-Canadian, correct?.Very informative video with pretty result. Cheers, from a fellow-low porosity natural in Toronto, ON.

I did the porosity hair test with the water and the results were low porosity but Everytime I moisturize my hair my hair the next day my hair is already dry like bread so I’m just like stuck.

The same for me but now I use a leave in and then blue magic and twist my hair. It stays moisturised for a week.

Use 100% moisture based products for your hair. Some products have a lot of protein in them and low porosity hair doesn’t like protein. Pay attention to the ingredients on the products.

Omg I just discovered this brand of products like two weeks ago and now watching your channel that super cool. Eden products works so well in the hair. I use the coconut and shea curl defining cream. Man oh man has it made all the difference in keeping my curls but also moisturizing my hair....

Wow we have a very similar routine and almost all the same products! I’ve tried so many things and this is the only thing that will work to keep my 4c hair moisturized!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you. May God continue to bless you in all of your endeavours. Lastly, thank you for the tips on making extra money.

Apogee protein bonder was too harsh on my dry hair but used it over 8 years ago. Olaplex no 3 bonder was nice, but too watery for me and expensive! Only got 30ml, didn't last 2 uses on my 4c thick bushy Afro! Kativa Keratin Post-treatment KIT worked for me! Economical! Plus I can experiment with my Asian and Jamaican hair oils and Beauty Queen ! Less hassle, more exciting, Keratin works! My hair still damaged but a 95% improvement in softness, elasticated and less breakage! Keratin forever! Rice water, okra cures so cultural, not for me! I need 21st century hair tech! Do your research, I studied hairdressing at college years ago! Keratin kits can be used on Afro 4c hair! Brilliantly softness! Uk 🇬🇧

I've been growing my hair for 7 years and it seems like I have 4z hair😂😂😂 I wash my hair maybe 1 or 2 times a month, the 2nd time is deep conditioning. I dont touch my hair often and I only comb it inbetween every other hairstyle. I've been doing this the past 3 years and I don't use the shampoos or products with sulfates or harmful products. I moisturize my hair every other day or every two days by using the loc method. Once I wake up the next day my hair is COMPLETELY dry. I sleep with silk durag and my pillows are also silk. I literally don't know what else to do, I recently trimmed my hair in January and I remember reading somewhere that trimming every 6 weeks is recommended but I've only trimmed it maybe 3 times in these 7 years. I've also seen conflicting testimonies about trimming. It seems like it doesn't matter what I do, my hair is just so weak and always dry it never grows past my chin.
