Gamemode 9 is probably "accessability mode", for disabled people. They showed it in one of Minecons. It was made for eye tracking control for paralysed people.

The gamemode 9 is like that glitch I discovered, where youre on a multiplayer local server with a friend as the owner, he unlock the cheats on the world and you set own gamemode on creative and you can fly on your side (but just glitch up with the others players and take fall damage), mine every block instantly (sometime with a little rollback) and literally puch out of existence the bedrock but you cant get any block in the creative menu like in creative

i have a video on it where i did it a different way. i was in creative, then when i switched to survival between the input lag, i started fly and it left me in the fly state since then. the only difference was that i would take damage upon falling and mobs would attack me. also i would be put back into regular survival mode upon restarting the world.

There's a lot of people confused, so I'm here to clarify! Spectator isn't in bedrock or beta so it is technically 'new' :D Hope this helps! (I haven't tried this) Edit: I tried this on my ipad in bedrock and game mode 6 works :D It's little glitchy for me but I can confirm it's real now

Gamemode 9 was what I had in 1.14 bedrock when you have lots of lag, and fly in creative mode then switch, then you would be flying in survival but mobs would still attack you.

Xbox 360 has host options. You can literally just turn it on and off, but it’s just survival mode with flight/infinite saturation/permanent invis. (When invis is on you cannot take damage.)

Mojang wasn't added new gamemode, is because gamemode is an bitwise enum in internal game code, so valid enum flags you set in gamemode (that in chat is regonized as int, and int is most base of enum values) will works. Is not proper a feature, its just not an intended behaviour.

On Java Edition, you could enter spectator mode for pretty much a decade, the same goes to the gamemode similar to that one, which on Java Edition is actually Survival, but you may find out that there is an NBT tag for player that goes like "canFly". When set to true, player can fly, even in Survival. When you change your game mode to creative or spectator, this NBT tag is set to true automatically, which enables you to double tap space bar and enter the fly mode. When you set your game mode to survival or adventure, that NBT tag is set to false and you can no longer fly, and in fact your fly mode is disabled as well. Fly mode is actually annoted by another NBT tag: "flying". When set to true, you are in fly mode. Servers that are using third party software can run plugins and/or mods, which can add variety of additional features. There is a Spigot plugin that enables players to teleport around, set their home, and gives them access to flying, in Survival. Essentials. Only on Java Edition tho.
