Every single one of these games between KH2 & KH3 should’ve been a console game on either PS2 or PS3. If you’d like to know who to blame for 10 years of handhelds, it’s the greedy Square Enix executives who wanted to save dev money and simultaneously chase “handheld/Pokémon craze” (dream eaters were entirely meant to attract Pokémon fans on 3DS and wouldn’t have made sense on PS3). The executives even doomed KH3 by sending its highest paid devs away from the project to go start FF7R in 2015, forcing the cheaper handheld devs who were unfamiliar with the Luminous engine to start the whole game over from 50% completion and rush it out the door in Unreal Engine 4, delaying it 3 more times and even missing their big CHRISTMAS release bc the game wasn’t finished enough, followed by an insulting “Day 1 patch” which did things like “fix graphics” (literally still working on the game after publish/release), and then followed by an underwhelming DLC which they allowed less than 10 devs to work on, for the extra year they knew they should’ve held it for to begin with. KH2 was the very last time that Nomura got to display his true vision with the full budget and power of a game development company. Square Enix saw what Nomura made them, and how many fans there were, and from there their goal was “save money, cash grab”. Nomura is such a mastermind however, he’s figured out how to spin us a masterpiece every single time despite their budget games. The video game industry will probably never move back to portable in any fashion that would limit budget or hardware capabilities. Now all of our games will be console games from here on out. The new game the executives will play is to see how quickly they can develop a game, with how small and underpaid of a team, and how quickly they can make the money back 100x off of us fans. If we don’t stand up against it in this generation right now, they will slowly build a fan base like the KH3 stans who will literally buy anything they make, regardless of it being the shortest game with the least content, and once they have enough mindless stans who don’t watch development cycles, they don’t need the $70 from their true fan base anymore. HEED MY WORDS. SQUARE WANTS TO MAKE US CHEAP GAMES THAT GENERATE LOTS OF MONEY. THEY’VE FOILED AND SOILED OUR SERIES FOR DECADES. WE MUST STAND UP AND LET THEM KNOW WE SEE THEM.

@@yuichiusagirabbitpawssnow4820 yes they were fun and the story expanded interestingly due to Nomura’s genius design, but it’s no question that games are no longer getting progressively better and we have been settling for less for decades. I’m done settling for less, and I think Square who is making KH4 right now should try to develop it as if they were developing KH1 or KH2 and give it EVERYTHING THEY HAVE AND NOT LIMIT NOMURA’S BUDGET. If we have another terrible development cycle and receive another terrible game, it will split the fan base and people like you who refuse to issue criticism in the face of NONSENSE BS will be the reason our series dies and doesn’t release games anymore.

I approve of this list. KH2’s gameplay was so fluent, and the game overall was top tier. As far as strictly story-wise, My personal favorite game (my opinion, don’t jump down on me lol) is 358/2. KH2 already had us feeling sorry for Roxas, but playing 358/2 after that REALLY made you feel emotionally attached and sorry for him, along with Axel and Xion. That game literally had me in tears by the time I reached the end. This series is still my favorite game series, all these years later.

🐺🤔 A couple of the games placed on this ranking list I disagree with: I put Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded where Kingdom Hearts X is and Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Fragmentary Passage should be one number higher same goes for Chain of Memories since the PlayStation version of the game was leagues better than the Handheld version. As for the rest of the list I do agree with mostly except I put KH I and II Final Mix or 1.5/2.5 number 2 on my list with Birth by Sleep Final Mix at number 1 because it rivals KH II Final Mix in content and it has more end game content too leading to the Fragmentary Passage. My only question is where is Melody of Memory on this list?

My ranking from lowest to highest - Kingdom Hearts X as a whole (Just watch the cutscenes to comprehend the story). - Melody of Memory (Solid rhythm game overall). - 358/2 Days (Gameplay was too repetitive, story is good). - Re:Coded (Solid gameplay, story doesn't matter except the ending). - Chain of Memories (I'm a defender of this game). - Dream Drop Distance (Cool additions to the gameplay, and the story is solid... if you understand the newer aspects added to the lore). - Kingdom Hearts 1 Final Mix (Great game, though a little dated but I still have great memories with this one). - Birth By Sleep + 0.2 ( Love the story, the trio, and some of the best mechanics implemented in the gameplay). - Kingdom Hearts 3 (despite the discourse surrounding it, the game is great overall with the updates and the RE:Mind DLC). - Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix (A worthy successor to the first game making it one of my favorite games of all time).

Kh1 has a better story overall and has much much better worlds to explore. Kh2 is just long hallways and some big areas for boss fights, while Kh1s world design was much more complex with lots of secrets to explore!

It's a massive upgrade in the combat though. Like you genuinely become the greatest swordsman in Disney/Square Enix history by the end of it. The fact that entire sequence are told through combat is amazing. Yeah level design is 2/10 TWtNW and T/Town just being gorgeous saved them from a hard 0. Story wise nothing in any game will ever Beat Sora killing his best friend to stop him from ending the universe after he was manipulated by a timeless being of pure darkness. Into becoming the perfect vessel for his final form. You and you alone stop him while defending the girl you can't admit you love yet because the feeling is new to you. Then after you kill your best friend. You kill yourself to restore the lives of the only seven people in the universe that can save everyone else. With a damn smile because one of them is that girl you love. Like what. But wait..... there's more. (One scene one scene destroys every other story in video game history, yeah I said it). The girl wakes up and even though everyone around her is reacting in slow motion she moves at the speed of light to try and save your dying ass and in one second proves what you did was worth it. Your best friend's dead (no)body is reanimated and now you think WTF he's still alive. But the girl isn't backing down. Only for what's left of your best friend's soul to sacrifice his lingering existence to buy her a few seconds. The six other girls off screen somehow fight back the never ending darkness you just unleashed on the universe by uniting these seven chosen protectors of the universe that all happen to be story book princesses. Then to be the first one BROUGHT BACK to finish this ultimate nobody off not even realizing what you're up against. But knowing from the bottom of your heart the meaning behind it all because you lived it. To be aided at the literal gates of hell by your best friend who had he not damned himself to it wouldn't have been there to help you when you needed him most. WTF IS THIS GAME.... 😭😭😭😭😭 But aided by a king. Who either let himself get swallowed into hell. Or more likely opened a world's keyhole to purge it into darkness and arrive on the other side completely intact. Showing just how much everyone sacrificed to do the thing. The most beautiful. Thing ever put on video game closing credits. Watch as the girl you love and her six other princess homegirls restore the universe from shards of light in the most spectacular fireworks display Disney ever put together. However..... A lot of what I just inferred was just questions until II came out and elaborated on what just went down in the first by showing more of the Universe's war and the repercussions of ten years of violence and death had on everyone and everything. Like bro Pride Lands and Land of Dragons both literally fell during their darkest times and were brought back still in them. You finish what started before mofos died. Whilst hoping to hope that your best friend came back to life too. And searching the universe for him while the princess that loves you now searches for both of you. But is brought in by THE BEST FRIEND of the other HALF OF YOU that was made when you killed yourself. (Again lore was established immediately. Riku died. His nobody was used by Ansem seeker of darkness the same way Xehanort used everyone else in III. We just didn't see it until II came out). With the hopes to lure you to your death early so that he can see your other half again. That you didn't even know about because your own best friend tracked him down and defeated him at the cost of his own soul. To help save your life as your other half unknowingly drained yours. All to come to head in the second invasion of radiant garden. But the same kids that had to live through it as their world was destroyed are now young able warriors of light and a few of them darkness. And they genuinely believe they can stop it this time because you're there. And YOU DO! AND IT'S EPIC! Also. Love the implication that Maleficent came in the first time and curb stomped the first eight members of the organization in their own house since we know for a fact nobody xemnas is the person who cast out Ansem the Wise. (DDD/IIFM) and Xemnas cast his own body off before Ansem found out about his reports. Since the Horned King is also implied as a dead member of Mal's crew and Pete clearly died by Mickey's hand before the Destiny Islands gets murked. All of that comes from the story in II. That in turn makes the story of one better. Plus that ending in II is just so satisfying. Best story ending original for sure. But.... We're back. You're home. Bruh.... not every emotion hitting at once from four words. And the letter from hikari opening. The same song that plays during the greatest scene in the first game. All connecting back into that one beautiful moment. They go hand in hand story wise. Just one deals with you saving the universe and one deals with you saving your friends. 😭😭😭😭

Chain of Memories could be my favorite of the series. It's 10/10 for sure. Final boss Sora mode was brutal for me. Took me 4 hours to beat. Game is up there with Birth and 1-3. All are amazing. I'm playing 3 right now, haven't beat it. Love it more than I thought. People acted like it was mediocre so was skeptical

I agree. Besides the long prologue, and Atlantica, KH2 is legit, THE perfect sequel. No other game has topped it. And my goodness, did KH3 drop the ball with the new properties. Disney owns STAR WARS. How many of us would have loved to see Darth Vader trying to get Riku over to the Dark Side? Or have a giant war with Attack of the Clones with Heartless on their side and have Thor as a partner in that world? Or Wreck it Ralph, being that it is literally another video game and they can travel to different worlds too? King Candy could have merged with a Heartless because he hacks into systems. OR even having Sora appear in CARS with Mater and having some weird storyline with how HIS key unlocks all kinds of cars 😂.

@@billyhorton8653 Every single one of these games between KH2 & KH3 should’ve been a console game on either PS2 or PS3.
