you also completely forgot that bowser in mario odyssey not only he had an entire kingdom for himself but he also has stolen and attacked all over the world for magical artifacts for his marriage affecting a lot of countries as well as invading all the countries with his troops (notably when he put the robot wiggler in new donk city) bowser was a world threat in Mario Odyssey that everyone in all of the countries hated and feared Bowser is definitely elite on Mario Odyssey dont forget he beat Mario easily on the intro cutscene

Paper Mario 64s bowser is one of the most competent bowsers we’ve ever seen. He kills Mario, and locks up the gods of the mushroom kingdom. It’s a wonder why he himself didn’t just go down to finish Mario after finding out he was revived by the Star spirits.

How come nobody is talking about how Bowser in Odyssey went to other kingdoms, stole their most prized possessions just to use it for HIS wedding, made Mario chase him through every kingdom to get them back, summoned a fucking dragon to kill Mario in the middle of nowhere (like there is no stolen artifact this time Bowser knocks Mario's ship over and lands him in a deserted and unusual world, TWICE, and then summoned a dragon to kill him) all so he could have his wedding on the fucking Moon. Yeah Bowser’s motives were weird but he was lowkey trying to KILL Mario over Peach. Still a great video tho

"He kidnaps Peach out of desperation... it's only really done to get back at Mario" I doubt it. I think that was his plan all along. Send Mario and Luigi on a wild goose chase while he captures the Princess. After all, even if Mario and Luigi fail, he still wins because he'll have control of several lands. ...I think Mario 64 goes above 'typical bad guy' if you're counting SMB1, Lost Levels and 3 as 'pretty menacing'. He took over what is basically the centre of the Mushroom Kingdom, after all, and trapped Peach in there, but she wasn't even in a physical form. Like you could have searched every room of the castle and you wouldn't have found her. "Hangs out with Peach at his castle"... No, Bowser Jr. has Peach the entire time, and flees whenever Mario beats the boss of that world. So other than fighting Mario two times, he doesn't actually do anything on his own. "Galaxy 2 is basically a retelling of the first game"... Sure, if you ignore the parts where Mario doesn't end up on the Comet Observatory, goes to completely different galaxies, has new power-ups... totally the same thing as the first game. Although admittedly I think it was stated that Galaxy 2 is basically an alternate universe. But no, it's not a retelling the of the first game. I'd say that the fact that he smashes up the Mushroom Kingdom, so you have to rebuild the place as WELL as chasing him down, would put him in pretty meancing, same at SMB1. He doesn't turn people into bricks and rocks, but he destroys all of their homes. "He just wants that Peach" ...and the entire Mushroom Kingdom along with it. "The game has his name in it" ...And isn't as impressive as taking over the Galaxy. He's just a mindless beast in Bowser's Fury for the most part, if memory serves. Pretty Menacing, but not Elite. Super Mario Wonder... he steals a power that can change reality. He gains reality-altering powers, and you think that's 'typical bad guy'?

in fairness to Odyssey, Bowser terrorizes multiple kingdoms, with varying intensity. While his motives seem less menacing compared to world domination, his actions that span across multiple kingdoms all across the world definitely make up for it in my book. I think he deserves either a Typical Bad Guy or Pretty Menacing tier Also for Wonder: His plan wasnt really to just turn into a castle, but rather he did that in order to build up power for his real plan: a giant reality warping wonder of... some description. We never really get told what that really entails, as Mario beats him before he can pull it off so it's not worth as many bad guy points, but the concept itself is definitely menacing

@@DobieMeltfire IDW Eggman, despite being unmistakably cruel and sadistic, is less capable than his game counterpart. He fumbled with the Metal Virus. Despite that arc showcasing how vile the doctor is, he is alarmingly indifferent to the Zombots starting to ignore his commands. He even acknowledges that it was possible due to how viruses work, but simply says he'll think of something later. He didn't even have a backup plan for that. He didn't even develop a vaccine for it, with his only plan for avoiding infection being "Don't touch the Zombots," and he dismisses Starline's valid concerns as nitpicking. Ultimately, he loses control of everything when Starline brings over the Deadly Six to try to control the Zombots. Even though the platypus uses the Cacophonic Conch to keep the Zeti in line, it isn't enough, as he runs out of breath and the Zeti take it away from him. This forces Eggman, Starline, and Metal to retreat. Not helped by the writer's (Ian Flynn) comments; "Eggman never, NEVER has a solid plan. It's always a big execution, but he never settles on the details." Even though that statement itself is also BS.

Bowser in Console RPG Super Mario RPG: A playable character (awesome!) but he's a 1-dimensional physical attacking tank you don't often use in boss battles (not so awesome) - Pretty Menacing Paper Mario 64 - Steals the Star Rod and captures the 7 Star Spirits leaving the entire Mushroom Kingdom in chaos. Invincible until the power of Peach praying to Twink kicks in - Elite Thousand Year Door - Mostly serves as comic relief but does incapacitate Grodus at the end - Weird But Alright Super Paper Mario - Teaming up with Carrie is borderline broken for the majority of the game, enough said - Elite (Not familiar with Paper Mario post SPM, sorry)

Part of the reason Bowser is so "worthless" in NSMB is because he spends like 90% of the game being dead. Mario ends him right at the start in World 1, and brutally at that. Bowser Jr. only takes the reins because Bowser isn't there to do so himself

I would’ve KILLED if Wonders. Bowser started off with the Castle head, but after that’s defeated he goes into… Guess this. A SECOND PHASE! This time, to appeal to the whole metal theme he’s go going on. Bowser would appear on a grand scale stage in his original form, of course all wonderfied like Jr with the colors. He’s got a metal attire and it rocking a flaming mohawk. He uses a guitar as his weapon and this would use the theme MUCH more effectively in the boss fight. Turning the easy, kinda bland head and hands boss into a magnificent stage performance where you actually fight Bowser directly. Also his minions would be shown in the background, cheering him on.

I have to give Bowser credit for his plot in 3D World. He was off stealing the fairies and their power in a different kingdom and none of our heroes knew about it. it all came down to that single fairy managing to warn them, and even then she's kidnapped about ten seconds later. If her timing had been off even a moment, Bowser would have had that whole world under his heel and Mario and friends never would have realized until he inevitably came crashing down on their turf.

Yoshi's Story Bowser is the hardest to first try, they take a game that's entirely 2D up to that point and make you fight the final boss in 3D with no tutorial. Plus the BGM is killer for that fight.

The way I see it, bowser seems to be seeking some kind of "power of creation." The sprixies can create pipes, castles, buildings, and even entire kingdoms when they all get together(like they do with world bowser when he recaptures them). Bowser doesn't just want to colonize other lands and incorporate them into his, but instead literally create new land. The koopas know black magic and necromancy, as evidenced by the many undead creatures in bowser's armies, but they can only bring back life; not create it. in sunshine, jr. even gets a hold of e. gadd's brush, which can create "life", but the life he does create, the enemies and the yoshis, are weak to water and high temperatures as they are only paint. In wonder it seems to me that the "huge wonder" is like a second big bang that would've rewritten reality itself into his image. We already got several tastes of it with the small wonder effects throughout the game that can rewrite reality in a certain radius, especially the ones in castle bowser. There are many games that evidence this further but this is my opinion and the most prominent ones I could think of. Sorry for the ramble everyone😅

I think, aside for being in love with Peach, marring a monarch from another kingdom was a huge political move. If Bowser maried Peach he became the ruler of the mushroom kingdom, which gives him a lot of political power.

Obviously this is only about the mainline games, but Bowser has a lot of interesting roles in the Mario RPG games, which would require a new "Ally" tier. Super Mario RPG: Ally/Typical Hero Paper Mario: ELITE (defeats Mario, and almost beats him in the final battle before Peach intervenes) TTYD: Weird but Aight (he is only involved because he doesn't like that someone else kidnapped Peach) Super PM: Ally/Typical Hero Sticker Star: Typical Bad Guy (all the problems with the royal stickers are not caused by him; he only kidnaps Peach) Color Splash: Pretty Menacing (planning to get the world consumed in darkness is pretty evil, and sucking the life paint from people is pretty messed up) Origami King: Ally (except for the middle, where he's uselessly kidnapped) Superstar Saga: Useless (constantly the butt of the joke, or amnesiac) Partners in Time: Useless (constantly pushed around, inadvertently helps the Bros., accidentally releases the final boss) Bowser's Inside Story: Ally/ELITE Dream Team: ELITE (tricks and betrays Antasma to get the Dream Stone) Paper Jam: Typical Bad Guy Brothership: Typical Bad Guy (though the less important bad guy than Zokket)

Here is where I’d put the RPG spin offs. Mario RPG; going off the start of the game only here, Typical Bad guy makes sense Paper Mario 64, Menacing, he beats Mario in the start of the game and yoinks up peaches castle Superstar Saga: (this is including Bowsletta) Elite, without Bowsletta Worthless TTYD: easiest Worthless he is 2 steps behind Mario almost the entire game Partners in time: Typical Bad guy, Final boss bowser however? Elite no question. Super paper Mario: same as Mario RPG, with same motive as Odyssey, wierd but aight Bowsers Inside story, This gets its own tier with Bowsers fury above the Galaxy games Dream Team: Elite, 2 words Dreamy Bowser. Sticker Star: Pretty Menacing Color Splash: Pretty Menacing Paper Jam: Pretty Menacing arguable should be elite as there is 2 bowsers with bowser armor at the end be pretty crazy. Origami King: honestly this should go in its own tier as bowser is never even an enemy if I’m correct I have not played Brothership Yet so it won’t be on this lost

What about Yoshi's Island DS? It may not be too different but there are both baby bowser and adult bowser. And Baby Bowser even works with us for some time for his own goals (not sure if that's smart or stupid of him).

Gotta agree with some other comments, the RPGs should have been here. Sure they're not canon, but Bowser is at some of his best in those games. And there's a weird take of him actually being on the same side as Mario in 2 of the RPG games. Technically 3 if you count Super Paper Mario, but that's much closer to a platformer.
