Thank you for clarifying that companies that make jair products are only marketing towards hair types because that is what we asked for. In reality when they formulate these products it is for the hair needs not for hair types. Once we understand that. we will understand that we can use any type of hair products that will give us the results that our hair needs.

I agree wholeheartedly!!! I used to get so upset when someone would ask why I use mousse in my hair. It worked. After using it my stylist would see the great results and then stock it to use for other clients.

Loved this video! After 7 years natural I have seven whole products in my arsenal. That's seven products from shampoo to silk oil that work on both my daughter's and my hair. We use them in varying combinations for wash and go's to silk presses. Still seven whole products. Vanicream shampoo Vanicream condtioner Rotating deep conditioners (depends what's on sale at Sally's) Jane Carter's Curls to Go Styling Custard Jane Carter's Styling Foam Ion blow out cream Ion Silk oil Dat's it! At most we use 4 of the 7 at a time. I am too tired and there is too much hair on our heads for all these steps. Preach Mo. PREACH!

I recently found your channel and literally tears formed after watching many of your videos. I’m sure you won’t see this given the age this video but I’m just so angry with myself. I had long beautiful hair much like yours and chopped it all off 5 yrs ago for a shorter style ( needed a life style change). The “stylist” I had never educated me on proper hair care, but I have to take ownership as well. I abused my hair with a flat iron and products trying to manage a shorter style. I am now paying the price with thinning and brittle hair. So many regrets!!! I wished I discovered you years ago. I took my hair for granted to be honest. That old saying “ you know better you do better” is what I’m living by now when it comes to my hair. So I’m binge watching many of your videos to educate myself. Also, trying to find a professional who will educate me on proper hair care. Thank you for helping me on my hair care journey. I’m starting to feel a little better . If I had a wish right now, it would be a personal consult with you !

Thank you for acknowledging NYC humidity and how it affects the hair/regimen. I stopped going to professional stylists for a long time due to them either not knowing or not willing to work with my hair in all four seasons. It doesn't matter how good my hair looks in the air-conditioned salon - if I can't replicate the style between appointments. The answer was to keep it short - but as I get older, I enjoy the ritual(s) of adorning my hair. Will try the CRN butter gel again and see if it works on my braid outs as my hair is too thin for a good twist out. Congrats on all your achievements mama - you are an inspiration to many!!!

I literally just watched another video that basically taught the opposite of what you're saying. And because I'm still learning how to take care of my natural hair after 8 years, I feel so desperate that I was actually considering something crazy like...not washing my hair for months. (SMH at me) I struggle with overly dry hair and frizz, usually the very next day after my weekly wash and deep conditioning. And after sitting there and taking the time to load all kinds of products in my hair, LOC, LCO and just recently, LAOC and my hair still ends up a dry, frizzy mess within 1-2 days. I've watched this video twice (which says a lot because the way my attention span is set up, I usually only can watch about 6 minutes or less, LOL) But I said that to say, as smart as I am, I NEVER considered using only one product for styling. My mind has been conditioned to just stack all sorts of products on my hair. Then I have the nerve to complain about how my hair doesn't grow past a certain length or how my hair never looks moisturized or how my hair is always frizzy. Thank you for this video, It has truly made me rethink my upcoming bad hair decisions. Lots of love and continued success to you!

So much great information! You're so right about trial and error. I was convinced that oils had to be a part of my regimen, while my hair was telling me the exact opposite. I developed a sensitive scalp, which I never had even in my relaxed day and my hair felt like straw. Finally I used my common sense (!) and my hair began to flourish. Now to eliminate some of the products I use, which is hard for a junkie like me.

Thank you for the information on the product line. I'm an ex-stylest, out of the business for about 10yrs and I don't know what to use for my hair with all these new line out. And with everyone doing that new "trend" today of going without relaxers and going all natural'/healthy. The stuff that worked for my hair (liked you said) they no longer carry and or they have changed product formula (if it's not broke don't fix it😡😡😡). I was out today looking for hair oil, shampoos and conditioners, styling aids for color treated hair and didn't know what to get. Now I know it is a hit or a miss and have to keep trying stuff until I find something that works. I will be watching this tutorial again you said some things that I've been dealing with my hair and I want to give them a try. AMEN, AMEN, AND AMEN AGAIN to the COMMON SENSE. I so love you and your videos. Wish there were more but glad for what you give. I’ve been natural for 3-4yrs and still don’t have a clue what my hair really wants and needs. Wish you were in Chicagoland area. Wish there was some way we could do one on ones with you. I know it’s unrealistic but a girl can dream. Thanks again for your knowledges and care for us and our hair over sponsors. I know sponsors are needed but truth is needed more!!! Yes Mo, you do know hair!!!!!

This is my third time being natural. This time around i don't do near as much to my hair as i use to. I wash my hair every week and leave it in two strand twists. I don't put a lot of products in my hair anymore. I use 3 products and that's it. When i need to add moisture to my hair i use a bottle with 60% alovera juice and 40% water. I find that my hair loves it and stays soft and bouncy.

This video was very informative and worth re-watching. I'm sure I missed something because I was so into watching you separate those twists. Absolutely gorgeous.

So much useful info especially for those of us who live in this humid New York City weather. I thought i was the only one that couldn't figure out what was going on with my wash and go. The two strand twist works wonders. Just need to find what products work better for my hair type. Thanks for dropping that hair knowledge. Can't wait for your next video.

Ok, I'm on my second viewing because it's so refreshing. I definitely got happy as I watched the first time. As in I was shouting AMEN, AMEN! But, Mo, you forgot one essential tip....when all else fails please consult a professional. Love you for your continued willingness to share your expert knowledge and pray that someone will benefit from the amazing tips you provided.

Wow! And Wow again! I just officially started a Natural Hair Care company called Hair N'tuition based on the fact that our Hair has it's own intuition that let's us know when our hair regimen is working, instead of following every wind that comes through. Mo thank you so much for helping me to know I'm not crazy in not following every natural hair fad! Appreciate it, for real.

Completely agree with using common sense and doing you're own research as to what works for your own hair, as well as modifying your routine as needed. So many people want quick, packaged answers instead of using the scientific method to figure things out for themselves.

@moknowshair This video was so GOOD! Great job!! Though, I am not natural, I still gain nuggets of useful information and education. I especially loved your point about "Curl Types." Chile, I'm like you; I hit the ignore button, read the ingredients and carry on. Your comment about raw oils...spot-on! When I attempted to use raw, coconut oil, my scalp became irritated and my ends frizzy. I can however, use formulated oils that contain coconut oil, with no problem. My fellow, KC homegirl, you do my heart proud. Keep it up!!!
