You never cease to amaze us with your creativity! Sometimes I can’t figure out what you’re doing and I try to figure it out… I’m yelling at the screen saying, “No, Deb!! Don’t do it!!! Don’t cut it right there!” and “and not that color! Add some of the lighter shade!” And I peek through my fingers to see you reveal sheer beauty! I don’t know how you do it, but please don’t stop! We’re learning so much from you!! ❤️🥹🤩

Thank you. I love this technique. Great color combination too. In your video it looks like the resin brings out the colors more, is that what you see? I haven’t tried resin yet on anything. I’ve only sanded and buffed. Thanks.
@clayboutique3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the resin does make the colors pop, but sanded and buffed still looks nice!

This one's like the gold Mokume Gane pendants you made. I still haven't figured out what exactly is giving it the tigereye/abalone flash? It's the gold.. but which gold and why? I'm very intrigued with this simple technique making such beautiful results! Thanks for sharing!
@clayboutique3 жыл бұрын
It’s probably the use of translucent and the metal leaf that’s giving more depth to the piece. Thank you
@ruthtrefethen41712 жыл бұрын
So lovely! I've been watching all your different steps in making these creations and there's (more then) one thing I dont understand....why do you cut some "squares" of clay and make wider indentations (like this one) and push the clay back together? I may not be making sense but one day, I hope to be creating my own pieces and I am very interested in the process. Thank you for showing us this! 😊👍
@clayboutique2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’m not sure I completely understand what you’re asking, but I’ll answer as best I can. It’s Mokume Gane…you impress the clay through the stack, and reform back into a block so you’re able to take slices. The pattern is maintained throughout the stack. If you didn’t close it back up, the slices would have open spaces, and when you cut through, you wouldn’t get a full slice. You can do a more ‘open’ look MG, but not with such deep indentations as this one.

I'm interested in making the version shown on the video title, the one with black clay. When did you add the black? Did you elimate a color? Thank you so much for sharing your videos, you're an amazing artist!
@clayboutique Жыл бұрын
The picture shown in the thumbnail is the one I made in the video. No black was added.
@clayboutique Жыл бұрын
This is like the second video I ever did, and the quality is poor. The colors aren’t being picked up in the video, itself. What you’re seeing in the thumbnail pic, is the dark blue peeking through. If you want black lines, then throw in a square of black in the stack.

Deb, I looked for the materials list for this video, and do not see it. Can you please provide a materials list? Thanks Rhonda ... PS... My husband thanks you for feeding my new clay addiction. During October and November, we work a booth at the Texas Renaissance Festival with Standard Clay. So, I do have a background in working with and handling clay.

Unfortunately, this was one of my very first videos, and I didn’t write the list of things needed, but I’m pretty sure I state what is needed in the video itself.

You have mentioned several times that you cannot show the translucency of your pieces in your videos, so I thought that you might like to know that on Amazon you can purchase a lightbox that is used for tracing, etc. These range anywhere from $17 to $80 (U.S.) and are really good for allowing the light to show up behind the pieces. Just saying :)
