As someone who's been in silver for a couple years I have 2 things to contribute: 1. The cycle of floaties and species is absolutely real. whenever I play someone I can quickly figure out if they're in the spacie rung above me or the one below me. 2. Ascending from complete beginner to silver 3 feels like walking up a slow and steep hike. Climbing from silver into Gold feels like climbing the sheer face of a cliff. Like i've been procrastinating playing melee cause I know I need to install unclepunch and spend a month or three grinding the game out if I want to solidly get into gold. (This was before free ranked day, Idk what it's like now)

You don’t need to do crazy labbing honestly just practicing your movement and execution for like at least 10 minutes a day will make a huge difference than just only hopping on slippi and playing people. It’ll make the game more fun too

The cycle is still there. Theres like distinct ranks for them now. Silver 2 will have fast fallers. Silver 3/Gold 1 will have both tiers of floaties. Gold 2 will have the spacies again. I remember when i climbed out of silver, i never ran into a fox. I ran into marth, sheik, peach, falco and samus in that climb. When I hit gold i started seeing falcon, DK and foxes again. Havent played in about a month but thats how it was for me.

I love how these videos are done. Its not just stream clips cut up. Theres an actual intro, thoughtful editing, commentary, and just pure entertainment. The sentiment of how low level players are actually good sometimes is really funny but also very true. I wouldn't consider myself pro or anything but in Ultimate, at the very least, my most played character is near as high as you can get. So I'm at least decent. The players I find in that very high GSP-rangr tend to actually not be very good, they just exploited the system. People I fight in lower ranks tend to give me a great challenge because they're actually trying. They might not be consistent in their plays, which is why they're "low level," but they're good at the game. And I know, GSP, not a good measurement of skill but still.

@@SillyChobo To a degree, I suppose. My main point here was to say that lower ranks tend to be decently challenging. Like how in this video they found a few players in the lower ranks that could keep up with them, despite the fact they're literally a pro. In other games, it depends. In fighting games, most good players tend to play casually for fun, so they end up staying in the lower ranks purely because they don't care as much. But in games like Yu-Gi-Oh, pretty much every rank feels the exact same due to a best of 1 format. Rank doesn't matter, it's nearly all based on the coin flip and the opening hands.
