im someone who never knew anything about the melee world or cared at all about getting to know it before this video. i was a longtime fan of emplemon so anything he uploads ill at least check out out of curiosity even if the subject isnt up my alley. a lot of emplemons fans like his videos not for the topics specifically, but for his editing, writing, storytelling, research, and commitment to the subject matter and giving it justice no matter how "shallow" or "sophisticated." after watching this vid, i was glad i did, because he made the melee community and much of its lore palatable for someone like me.

It would be sick if some of the melee stat nerds could compile a bunch of ranked data to assign each character a par for the average number of games it SHOULD hypothetically take to get a win with a character (i.e doc 5, marth 1, puff 3, ect.) so you could have an assumed perfect par game of 0, but a negative game if you’re really cracked…just like real golf lol
