Thank you Tim! yes everything is so close and here in Mola there is a thriving art and music scene. We have a gorgeous theater which is walking distance from our place. Everything is steps away. It is fabulous! This place is close to us and even closer to Il Grottino for AMAZING pizza!

Hi Zelda, yes it is and the light is great. Sometimes these properties can be dark inside but this has balconies on either side nd is close to everything!

I think if I was putting a kitchen into the terrace level, I would put in at least a half bath. I don't know if the middle floor had one, so I would want one up top if I was going to be there a lot. It's definitely a nice place as is and if I had a half bath on the top level, I might leave the ground floor bathroom as is

I know Mola homes are small but this one looks much smaller- keeping current config is this just a 1 bedroom /living room or 2bedroom/no living room? Or make 2 family and it’s 1bd/no living room with studio apt on 1st floor? My family is originally from Mola and I’d love to have a summer home

Hi! This one is similar to our layout. the rooms are pretty good sized and I loved that this one has windows on two sides whereas ours only has the balconies in the front which is ok because we can use strategic lighting. Many times the people here put the living rooms, kitchen and dining area downstairs and the bedrooms upstairs. On each level there is room to put a bathroom and still have plenty of room for a bed and possibly a sitting area. This is what we are doing with ours. Our kitchen will be laid out a bit differently to take advantage of the plumbing and we are putting that on the second level as we want the first level to be a separate apartment for rentals or guests. So in answer to your question, ours will be a 1 bedroom apartment with a separate studio apartment downstairs and it looks like you can do the same here.

Chris, how difficult is moving the toilet plumbing? Is that a huge cost? Just curious since you’ve done this stuff before. Wondering about changing our bathroom and moving ours to make better use of the space, create a shower instead of a tub.

Hi Michelle, It is always more cost effective to leave the fixtures where they are if possible but I don't know the exact cost of moving something because each situation is different. I think if you send Antonello an email he can address it because he is familiar with the property. If you just eliminated the tub and replaced it where it is with a shower with a glass box doccia it could be beautiful and save you money. I believe that moving pipes in walls is not near as big a deal as moving the drains for toilets and showers. But again Antonello can advise you best. I cannot wait to see your new kitten in person! It looks AMAZING!

Hello, In answer to your question, we are not worried about the mafia where we are. That said there are some isolated instances of attacks on business competitors in some areas. These are generally isolated groups with some sort of vendetta and if you are not doing business in Calabria you really don't have to worry from my experience. It was only when we created a business there that we were attacked but the person attacking us is not even Italian so there we are. Other than that the towns are very safe, I certainly feel much safer out and about on my own in Scalea than anywhere San Jose California and I think it is the same with most towns. In the bigger cities you do have to be careful as you would in any big city but the locals can advise you where to avoid. Where I am in Mola di Bari is very safe and very good for retired people.
