Was late to the party in seeing this latest upload been off KZbin past few days but wow! What a finale in your build series chris! As per every video Iam totally blown away by your workmanship and skills! And the finished product is simply amazing! Can’t lie I’m kinda sad it’s the end of your pack build series as it’s been so fun to watch and learn each step and process you go thru when creating these master pieces, Hope your well all the best Adam uk

When will you make these available? I would really like to build a full size pack using your shell.

Unfortunately these are on the shelf at the moment. I might do a run in the future but not sure.

Hi Chris, thank you for all these videos; I'm watching them now. I am so confused though. After you've made your mold, how do you actually cast the shell with a one sided mold and still end up with a hollow shell? I'm only used to casting resin parts where if I used a one sided mold I'd have a giant completely solid brick of a proton pack. AND you molded it upside down. I'm so confused. What is the black material in your cast? Is it paintable somehow and how does it not just fall off the top of the mold? Thank you.

Im actually about to do a how to cast a proton pack shell within the next month or two. Keep an eye out.

What type of paint did you use on your master (wanting to make sure I'm not using something that will inhibit platinum cure silicone)?
@ChrisBoshProps4 ай бұрын
I used Krylon Satin Black but the trick is to make sure the paint cures for 3-4 days before molding. If you mold the next day or within a 48 hour period you run the risk of inhibition. Patience is key. Also make sure to test a small piece of silicone on the shell before going all out to make sure it cures. I do this every time before fully molding.

I was familiar with the concept of the process, but never observed the nuts and bolts of it before. Thank you so much for documenting the process. One question I have is how much time do you allow each silicone layer to dry between applications?
@ChrisBoshProps2 жыл бұрын
Thanks sir. Really good question I usually wait about 30 to 45 minutes in between layers. It really depends on the weather...the hotter it is the faster cures and the cooler it is the slower it takes. You want the previous coat to be cured enough that the brush won't pull the material while putting on the next coat. Hope that helps and thanks for the comment!

Where did you get your cast of a screen used shell? How much was it are there any available for sale, I would love to get one if whoever casted it originally still sells them
@ChrisBoshProps6 ай бұрын
Check out Macks Factory Legacy shell, he sells the casting.

Great job. About how much silicon did you use?
@ChrisBoshProps Жыл бұрын
1 gallon kit of Rebound 25 which is the equivalent of 2 gallons because the mix ratio is 1:1. Thanks!

what did you use and how did you do the casting?

Gel coat resin backed with fiberglass matte and resin. The pack is casted with those materials and brush in very carefully.
