Honestly this direction feels very in character for Jiren. He’s crazy strong purely due to pure strength and absurd fundamentals (and thus insane normals and pressure), but doesn’t have the normal WACK factor in his specials that other characters have. He’s on par with the likes of UI Goku or Broly through sheer will and power rather than, as he would put it, “cheap parlor tricks” such as frame 1 reversals or being simultaneously the best zoner and grappler in the game.

What I love about Jiren is that unlike most other top tiers, he doesn't rely on a broken gimmick or move to carry him. He has his counters, but those are integrated into his moveset well enough that it doesn't feel like they themselves are broken. Instead, he just relies on his *jacked* fundamentals. Which is pretty in line with his character overall. Most of the Pride Troopers, and almost everyone in the Tournament of Power had a unique gimmick or skill or something. Dyspo's speed, Hit's Timeskip, etc. But Jiren had just his own raw power. No fancy skills or anything, *just* raw power and control.

The visual aesthetics in this one were GREAT; especially the intro, and I love how the years are represented by a certain hue. Your use of colors is AMAZING. I like how this buff actually kind of fits his character. Jiren was at his most interesting and felt the most powerful in the show when he was barely trying, taking people out with his weakest attacks while completely countering their strongest. It makes total sense to me that his play style should reflect that, pressuring people with terrifying normals and even light attacks, before baiting them into his counters

I see it as; if you were to take everyone's abilities away like the game/story does, Jiren would still be the greatest matial artist alive. He's trained the hardest for the longest with no family or distractions, and has an unshakable will, therefore he's the most skilled fundamentally and would be the most dangerous "unarmed" character

Something I respect about DBFZ is that they aren't afraid to completely reinvent characters between seasons. Many other games are afraid to make drastic changes because it would contradict the creative vision of the developers. Here, they actually listen to what fans want and will work with what they have to fix things in a truly meaningful way.

Even before the ability to chain it off auto or 5M, his stagger pressure from 5L 2L was absolutely insane, and was easily his best feature, and then they buffed it what it is now. Something I'd like to mention: The change to Low Counter. What used to be a really mediocre move that felt it really didn't have a purpose is now a near instant reset of pressure if they don't react to it instantly due to it's changed recovery. If they're not mashing Dragon Rush mid-blockstring while being afraid of his staggers they're eating 20 more seconds of blockstring with assist recovery.

They also did a stealth nerf on his projectile counter, they turned it into an aerial move, which means it can be 2Hed on reaction by pretty much most of the cast that has a 2H that is quick enough. Although it hardly matters because a lot of people are not even aware of this

I noticed something in the beginning scene, Krillin, Tien, Roshi, Piccolo, 18, Gohan, Vegeta, 17, Frieza, and Goku were all eliminated at the hands of Jiren. But there was one character missing, one character so unbelievably powerful that Jiren had no hope of beating, a character that Jiren would run from in fear at the very thought of them, a character even capable of contesting with his busted 2L. That character, my dear reader was the Yamchad himself. Jiren knows better than to tangle with the like of Yamcha. (Inb4 anyone says “you’re stupid, it’s all the U7 members in the ToP” we both know the reason Yamcha wasn’t in the tournament in the first place was so Zeno wouldn’t feel threatened by his very existence.)
