Thank you for sharing your journal. So inspirational! And your feathers are beautiful! Not at all Christmas tree-ish. (OK, I could see a little bit of campfire once it was pointed out!) I'm so sorry to hear about your friend and know you still grieve her loss. My best friend in all of life died 10 years ago. I, too, had to shop for something to wear to the service. One salesgirl asked if I was shopping for a special occasion. I said, "Yes, my friend's funeral." Oh, that poor girl! She didn't know how to react. I wonder if she ever asked that question of a customer again. What a treasure your journal will be to your kids as they begin to care about family history. I've very much tried to do the same thing. And how I wish I could go back and talk to those "old" aunts and uncles. (Who were back then my age today!!) If only young people would take the time to listen to stories of their family. Anyway...Merry Christmas and may your new year be blessed beyond imagination!

This was quite lovely..... I just last week heard about a grief journal. I thought it was a great idea. Thought about how many journals I would need to have one for each person/thing that I've lost and it's a lot of books. Some people are still alive, but for a series of unfortunate events I haven't been able to see them or hear them or know anything about their lives. Seems like if I put all the grief into one book I'd be jumping around from one thing to another, and not have like, one book just about memories of my dad, for example.

The operative word is that you strayed from your intended use of the journal (not about the sad lost of your friend), but the pasting of memorabilia is the reason the journal bulked out. These journals were not intended for that, they were meant for writing, art, graphing etc, when items are pasted, tapped, or clipped in they, as I said, bulk it journal out & may even break the back binding; IMHO.
