OMG....Molly got a serious upgrade! The swap looks awesome...it looks like it's from the factory. Molly got a stronger motor, drivetrain and AC!!! I love it!!

You'll love the 2.8 i had an 89 swb that i swapped a toyota 1kz(with pajero 2.8 mechanical pump) into which is pretty close to the mitsu 2.8 in power and i loved it good solid power even in the mountains i actually ran 37's on that one aswell i remember i swapped 31's on at one point and it was a real screamer as you might imagine going from the 36s down. Mine also had the gen 2 running gear with 4.63 gears i imagine 5.29's could only make it even better
@JKoverlandАй бұрын
1kz is a fine motor! 37's is some big boots to fill. Really happy with the way it has turned out. Plenty of power and economy and what an upgrade! 4.63 works pretty well on the highway can cruise at 70 with relatively low rpms. 5.29s would be epic off road I think. Low first seems good with the 4.63 to be fair.

Nice! I'm sure you know this but if not... always take care of the temps when going uphill they love to blow the head gasket if overheated. I've got a mk2 with a 4m40 with 400k and still runs like a boss. Anyways love the channel, take care.
@JKoverlandАй бұрын
They do need to stay cool thus everything in the cooling system has been changed to new and the quality rad 😎 even on long uphill drags now it's barely can break 80°c 👌

Good to see a vid guys 👍and I know what you mean about the 4D56....not much beans in it! My K94 really suffered when I put 33s on it. However I've just put on an allisport intercooler and had a sensible re-map (along with the deletion of a certain valve 😁) and it keeps up OK now. They'll never be sports cars at the end of the day, no matter what we bolt on em 😅 Nearly sheep grease time for me! I remember your vid every time I'm crawling about under the truck covered in Lanoguard 🤣 Cheers from the peaks
@JKoverlandАй бұрын
They can be ok the old 4d56, ours was clearly not though as it was only running on 3 by the end 😂 ours was tuned but with the old auto really sapping the power it did struggle at normal tasks. I'd imagine with the manual it's a lot better. Haha Lano time soon for me too. Molly looks beautiful 👍😘 - but please tell me you fixed the problem where the footwells filled up with water every time you waded? And, yes, my two favourite videos of yours are "we shouldn't have done it" and the one when you went to the shops through the floods, with the water level over the bonnet. Most impressed. 👍

That's amazing you got 29mpg! I get about 15 mpg with the 2.6L gas in an '88 SWB with the auto. I've been considering swapping the auto with a mk1 5 speed I have. Do you think it's worth the effort? Also, why did you decide to go with a mk2 drivetrain instead of mk1?
@JKoverland10 күн бұрын
I think the biggest difference in mpgs is replacing the old auto with a manual 👍 mk2 drive train is a lot stronger than mk1!
