The best lurcher I ever owned was one my Grandpa got me when I was a kid in the late 60s. She was a beautiful little Bedlington X Whippet/Greyhound who I named Rags & was only about 20 inches at the shoulder but crikey she could turn on a sixpence. All my mates had opted for larger dogs but Gramps told me she would be better for me as most of our local Cheshire fields were small. He was right. My mate's dogs were great catching Hares on the really big fields and meadows but couldn't compete with Rags on the rabbits in small fields. She lived to a good age of 14 before she died and it broke my heart and I don't mind admitting I cried buckets even as a 23 yr old man. I'm over 60 now but still, think fondly of my little grey shadow. You're a lucky man to have Molly in your life, Neil. She's beautiful and reminds me so much of my old Rags when she was a puppling. Thanks for sharing, bud. You've made an old man a bit happier today! ... Edit: Molly must be about 8 now, Neil, any chance of an updated video?

What a lovely memory about your dear Rags! I’m glad she lived such a long happy life. They really are the best, aren’t they?

Hi I don’t spend much time on KZbin or social media & only just seen your comment. Molly is indeed a fantastic little lurcher - More of a family pet than a working dog BUT the fastest ball retriever in Staffordshire. She will be 10 years old in May 2023. I posted a short video of her on KZbin about 3 years ago & just posted another of her helping to unwrap Christmas presents 2 weeks ago. Cheers Neil

My parents had a bedwhip other dogs thought they could pick on him they thought wrong he would fight any dog who picked on him no matter what their size, and yet he was fantastic with my young children.

I can search online but anyone know of any reputable breeders of this mix in the U.S.?

Excellent calm firm training Sir! As experienced dog owners, we are considering a lurcher as our next dog. But who is a reputable lurcher fancier/breeder in the USA? By reputable, I mean sire & bitch, hips, knees, etc. genealogy book certified for health issues? This is one of the original 'designer dogs' so I am at sea, as we have always sourced our fantastic dogs from highly reputable breeders. I have had Chow Chows, and then 2 Bichon Frise's, who were amazing dogs and more 'cat like' in their relaxed attitude after being played with, walked, and someone at home of course. They just wanted a bit of a little cuddle and to sit quietly by your side. However, my better half wants an affectionate lean against you dog like a lab, and I'm not sure if a Lurcher is any less 'aloof' as the 2 aforementioned breeds. We are thinking of a large long haired larger lurcher with excellent temperament. That being said, we do know home training is essential with such an intelligent working cross breed being promoted as a companion dog. Would you be so kind as to give me an insight on a long haired Lurcher aficionado/breeder connection in the USA or perhaps the straight lowdown on the lurcher breed?
