I listened to it for the first time in years this month and do the words sung hit like a ton of bricks. the stuff I used to think was bullcrap really caught up with me about how fast 10 years comes and goes. made me cry a little as the thought of death bearing down on you is inescapable.

The first singer in "Time" is David Gilmour who also plays that ethereal incredible guitar solo in the middle of the song! The second and more ethereal voice is Rick Wright the keyboardist. Also this album came out in 1973 and Syd Barrett, he stopped being a part of the band in 1968! Reason being, he became schizophrenic and it was possibly brought on by way too much LSD!! They had to leave him behind because he was becoming destructive to the band. He would just play one note over and over or detune his guitar during live shows so on the way to a gig they just did not pick him up one time and that was it!! Don't fret!!! They did not abandon him at all, EVER!!!; They made sure he got everything he deserved and even helped him on 2 solo albums later on when he seemed to get a little better! At that point he didn't want to be a part of the band anymore! He was worth 6 to 8 million pounds at the time of his death in 2006 so as I stated they did not abandon him!!

I was fortunate to see their Dark Side of The Moon concert in 1976 at Milwaukee County Stadium. The best concert I have ever seen in my life! We had to drive 180 miles to see them, but the atmosphere was unbelievable. There were joints being passed in every direction. I was sitting in an aisle seat and there were two policemen standing on the step. A joint was passed to me and I looked at the cop and he was watching me, but what the hell, I took a big hit and passed it on and he wasn't the least bit interested. It was an experience, and I thank you for reviving those memories. Love your channel! Keep em coming.

Welcome to the world of Pink Floyd! You have so many brilliant songs, so many masterpiece albums to listen to. As others here in the comments have said (you will hear this a lot, lol) many of their albums are meant to be heard in one sitting. These albums are a part of a whole concept. While you can certainly play the songs one at a time, I highly suggest a playthrough of this particular album, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall in one sitting, as they are meant to be heard-whenever you get the chance. Enjoy your journey listening to the best band that ever was!

David Gilmour does the vast majority of the vocals. Syd was only really on the first two albums PiperAt The Gates Of Dawn and Saucer Full Of Secrets then left due to mental health problems. If I remember correctly, Gilmour came in during that second album. Lead guitar was always David Gilmour after that.😊

Hey MollyBoy, this was David Gilmour singing on the album "Dark Side Of The Moon." Syd Barrett's last album with Pink Floyd was called "Saucerful of Secrets" which was released in 1968; the founding members of Pink Floyd were Syd Barrett (lead vocals, guitar and primary songwriter), Nick Mason (drums), Roger Waters (bass and vocals), and Richard Wright on (keyboard, vocals). David Gilmour joined the band in 1967 shortly before the departure of Syd Barrett. Gilmour joined as a guitarist and a co-lead vocalist he also wrote songs for the band. (I hope this helps) Here's another song by a different band, if interested. "The Doors - The End (Toronto, 1967)" --This is Jim Morrison, the lead singer and frontman for the band the Doors. This was fun thanks for sharingpeace out~

The Dark Side Of The Moon was recorded in 1973. Syd Barrett was only in the band until early 1968. Most of the vocals since then have been sung by David Gilmour. In this case, along with keyboardist Rick Wright (as in Echoes, for example). Occasionally (and later increasingly) Roger Waters also sang. Only occasionally did someone outside the band sing. For example, the next song after Time is called The Great Gig in the Sky. This was sung by Abbey Road studio backing singer Clare Torry. And it's another gem of rock music. It's sung by all three backing vocalists at the Pulse concert. It's also gorgeous, though I clearly prefer the studio version.

This song is ironically timeless since it speaks so well to a universal aspect of the human experience. i always took this song as a plea for people to be more present in their lives so that they don't fall victim to the same pitfall that most people do in their youth. Because we experience time relative to our lived experience in a very real, literal way the older we get, the faster we experience time. just draw two equal length lines, one represents the life of a 5-year-old and the other the life of a 50-year-old and then demarcate the amount of that line that represents a year and consider the implications.

As someone else has mentioned, always try to have the lyrics with you...all their songs are always deep and meaningful. This song will make more sense to you the older you get...trust me on that. The Dark Side Of The Moon is a work of art...a true masterpiece. Once again, have the lyrics drawn up when reacting to it.

If you can get yourself on the national space centre mailing list. They do a pink floyd. This album , visuals are projected onto the dome. It's epic, an experience you have by just listening. Every single time it's on I go. Everytime you see it you see something new.

This is after the Syd era of Pink Floyd. David Gilmour (guitar) sings lead along with Roger Waters (bass) on this album, though there is ample use of session vocalists.

I remember when the Dark side of the Moon album came out. I was 14 years old, living in Juvie, outside at the fence sneaking a smoke when the song TIME floated over my head, echoing in my brain, this perfect musical smoothness flowing into my body and I felt whole, complete. I was filled with such a peaceful feeling that it made me cry and I knew, at that very moment I just knew my life was going to take a turn for the better. Crazy how a song can do that to you. 1973 and indeed, my life was on an upswing! Pink Floyd got into my soul and it never left. You know what I'm talkin about!

As others may have mentioned, Syd Barrett only appeared and sang and played on their first album, "Piper at the Gates of Dawn." This song has David Gilmour, guitarist, sing the verse, and Rick Wright, the keyboardist singing the chorus. Roger Waters, on bass also sings but not on this. Nick Mason is the drummer. This is a great, great song.

Roger's songwriting on this one: brilliant. "So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking, racing around, to come up behind you again." The sun is time, time is the sun. You can't catch time but time will catch you.

Some of the most eternal lyrics *ever*. (and if you don't get goosebumps and/or shed a tear during the guitar solos -- you might wanna check your pulse to see if you're still alive)

Saucer full of secrets 1967-8ish was Floyd’s last album with Syd Barrett. Regarding Gilmour’s guitar playing… David doesn’t plug his guitar into an amp, he plugs it into our soul.

Syd Barrett was only part of their first two albums. After his mental issues made continuing with the band impossible, he was replaced in 1968 by David Gilmour. This album - "Dark Side Of The Moon" was their 11th, and Syd was long gone. Their next one - "Wish You Were Here" - is their tribute to their fallen founder, highlighted by the track you did just prior - "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (Syd). They will once again pay homage to Syd on the final track - "High Hopes" - of their final studio album - "The Division Bell". By any reasonable measure, Gilmour may well be the best guitar artist in of all rock history. He is capable of carrying more emotion with a single bend than most can do using the entire neck. As you get deeper into their catalog, it will become clearer.
So Cute 🥰 who is better?
