Over 10 years ago I saw Dave do one of the cooler things I've seen at a concert. This was at the Filmore Auditorium in Denver. The security guards were treating one of the fans in the front very roughly and he saw what was going on. Middle of the song he stops and says hey you ASSHOLES you better leave him alone or you're gonna have a big problem. The guards kept on so he had the band walk off stage. After a couple of minutes he came out and pointed to the two guards and said to the staff get rid of them or we're not coming back. He got them removed came back out and ranted about them for a minute and re-started the show. It seems weird to say you liked seeing a band walk off stage mid show but he was sticking up for his fans. Much respect to Dave Mustaine for that.

Nick Menza auditioned for his spot in Megadeth with this song (he was already a drum tech for the band), the song was incomplete at the time and Nick just winged it; pretty much everything he played in the audition version of "Holy Wars" made the album. Megadetb is the band that sold me on Heavy/Thrash Metal back in the Fall of 1987. One of my classmates had a Walkman and Megadeth's 2nd album "Peace Sells" and I got to listen to it on the bus to an Away Game with my Freshman Football Team. And I was immediately sold and hooked on this Thrash Metal scene. Why? Well, as you can tell, Megadeth uses a lot of layered guitars and tempo changes that even Metallica didn't do. And I was like, "This shit is great." I was 13 at the time. I'm 50 now and still jamming out to nothing but Heavy Metal. Megadeth's newest album is pretty damn good. It's got a little bass solo on the 3rd track that is the deepest bass solo I've ever heard in a Metal album. It rocked my Sub when I played it the first time. One thing about Metal that a lot of non fans probably don't understand or know about Metal is that its roots are Classical Music and The Blues. So you'll often see Metal fans enjoying both of those genres by themselves. But when directly implemented into Metal, it becomes pretty magical. Check out the song "Above the Sky" by Majestica (Tommy Johannson's band). It's literally got everything in it that Metal fans love. You listen to that and you'll realize why Metal fans love the genre.

That transition you got caught on was the change from the first half. Holy Wars/ Punishment Due. The second half is paying homage to Frank Castle "The Punisher". This was my second concert. Megadeth was touring with Testament. Who you should also give a listen too. I would recommend Souls of Black, off the likewise named album. That was a hell of a concert and hearing Holy War/ Punishment Due live was fukkin' awesome. 🤟

Great reaction man... I could tell how you were feeling in certain parts of the song. It was intense.
