Hi Jethro. I am a new subscriber. I like bicycle touring (not bikepacking, I love my old 'normal Dutch bicycle' with racks and panniers). So I watch the videos of several long distant touring people on KZbin. Maybe your tours are not as spectacular as some others, but your talks are the best!
@JethroJessop4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I'm glad you like the videos. I actually think that the less spectacular tours need more credit. Most people don't have the chance (or the inclination) to cross the Andes or the Sahara or something like that. The West coast of Denmark or just a loop around your local woods might not be as epic or look as good on film but the satisfaction and the sense of adventure are just as real. If I could get one message over on this channel it would be that anywhere in earth is beautiful if you just take the time to look at it with the right eyes. And it definitely doesn't matter what bicycle you do it on. The important thing is to just get out and explore 😃 Thanks for watching. I hope to get some more videos out very soon.

Thanx for the review! I got a bit curious about how you have mounted the rolltop bag under the handlebar. I liked how it got close to the bike and not seemed to interfere with the brake and shift cables. //Robert
@JethroJessop11 ай бұрын
The roll top (Egress pocket) attaches direct to the bars with velcro straps OR clips natively to the RD Sweetroll. After much use I've decided that the best way to mount it when not using the sweetroll is to hang it inside the loop of the Molokos, connected to the frontmost bar, facing back. This means it hangs pretty straight and inclines towards you for easy access. I did a review of that as well but I hadn't realised this configuration at the time so ignore my points about hanging it in the loop :: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHeZcpKqrtGEldUsi=uTzDVlSPuYmR9xHD

I just converted my drop bars to moloko tryng to get my kona rove to handle better. Rode a bridge club today very comfy.27.5... 2.6 tires, it would go anywhere you point it. I'd have to get over big top speeds it just plods along rolling over anything in its path.. the search for the perfect bike continues, probably never ends. Not sold on the adjunct.
@JethroJessop4 ай бұрын
I'm lucky, I just want to plod along and roll over everything so the Ogre is not far off perfect for me. Could be a bit lighter but I'll not complain. I wouldn't bother with the adjunct. It's ok for a wallet and phone but I haven't used mine for ages. I just use the Egress all the time now.

Very helpful review, also enjoyed the one on the Revelate Designs Egress. I'm looking at the Moloko bars and I already have an Egress so I'll probably just stick with that if I get the bars and forego the Adjunct. Glad I found your channel!
@JethroJessop3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, glad you like the vids and that they were helpful. I'd definitely go Egress over Adjunct any day. Someone recently commented about hanging it in the bar loop backwards so that it hangs open. I have tried this and it does work though it is a bit messy, especially if you have lights and what not mounted to the bar as well. A great bag though all in all. Cheers for watching!

If you get the Moloko and want a bigger bag, then check out the RD Egress. That's what I use now and its great! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHeZcpKqrtGEldU On the other stuff, I would genuinely love to sit down with a true holder of those opinions and chew it all over but I suspect the KZbin comments are not a good forum - too easy to misinterpret responses

@@migaloo70 thank you. It's always nice when people pick out the non-review videos. The rambling ride philosophy is the most fun to make but they don't pull in the views the way a gear review seems too. But I'll keep making them for sure 🙂

Very useful video Jethro because I wanted to to find out if a handlebar roll could be fitted to the Moloko bars. I have the Ortlieb version and can get my full sleep setup in it. This is great to see.
@JethroJessop3 жыл бұрын
The RD I have had an optional set of attachments for mounting on Jones Loop bars that I believe also works for the Moloko. I've always meant to try it out but never got round to it so far and the standard approach works fine for me.

Looks like it would make a good rack-top bag for the back too. I always use at least a rear rack so I can carry panniers on long trips. I'm trying out a front platform rack this year too, loving it so far. Long trips are on hold though of course... Good luck with your channel I hope it keeps growing well!
@JethroJessop4 жыл бұрын
I guess it could go on the back but you could probably get something cheaper and bigger for that job. I intended to go full bikepack but pretty soon I put that rear rack and mini panniers back on. Dunno if it will always stay but I do like the ease of access and the volume of panniers.

Looks a good little bag along the lines of what id like . Ive just bought sonder confucius bars for one of my bikes love the bars but i couldnt justify the ££ for the alpkit bag that fits it . Thinking along the lines of a molle pouch or i might try making one so it fits perfect 🤔.

I'd love to get into making my own gear. I'm a longtime lurker on the r/myog subreddit and you see quite a lot of bikepacking gear on there but it is just another hobby that I don't have time to get into. I have pretty much ditched the Adjunct now in favour of the RD Egress (check my video of that if you haven't already seen it) which pretty much does everything I want.

£60 for a little bag. Sharp intake of breath. But I suppose it is made to fit the handle bars. I enjoy watching the videos as someone coming back to cycling. Bought an old mountain bike off ebay for £10 and have been flying up and down the roads again. Keep up the good work.
@JethroJessop4 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the videos. It is pretty pricey but I'm hoping I've set myself with kit that will probably last longer than I do. There is endless opportunity to spend crazy money on gear when you get into cycling if that is what you like. I am a sucker for for this stuff but then I rode with the Lidl bags for a good while and they were absolutely fine so it can definitely be done cheaper.

Nice little bag, it might just be the right size for my feathers, birdfood and phone. Will it fit on other bikes such as we mere mortals have?
@JethroJessop4 жыл бұрын
It would be perfect for feathers but it will only really fit on bars with a loop. For standard designed ones you'd need to look for another style I think

Do you review the bars anyways? Even in text? Just looking for more opinions on them, I haven't found much out there.
@JethroJessop4 жыл бұрын
I've just done a video that will go live next week where I talk a bit about my bike in general. I mention the bars in there but until then... they are really good. I chose them because I used to get really sore wrists riding my old MTB bars and I wanted the optional hand positions but actually the geometry and the sweep is just right for me and I can ride for ages just in the main position without any problem. I rarely move to the horns in practice and all the extra space gets mostly used to strap bags and stuff to. I've heard some people saying they are too heavy but weight isn't much of a consideration for me when buying kit so I have no complaints.

Jethro Jessop I would like something I can put my cell phone, wallet and keys in when I ride. I don't really bikepack, just looking for extra space. The underseat bags that I have are way too small for those three items. I like the Jones bag but I don't like the $64 price tag.
