Not only that, but also a modern day western (noticed all the wide angle shots?)! Also this movie a an hommage to the John Wayne/ Dean Martin classic "THE SONS OF KATIE ELDER", which had a similar story.

As someone who grew up in a house full of brothers I gotta say they really nailed the relationship down between the four. Constantly roasting eachother but always having eachother’s backs. We always used to mess with our youngest brother just like how they did with Jack but the second we found out some kids in his class were bullying him, we all got on our bikes and jumped their asses one day after school 😅 Guess that’s why I cried so much when Jack died because I saw so much of my little brother in him. Definitely one of my top favorite movies and so glad you had the chance to enjoy it!

Regarding the younger brother Jack, I've always assumed that maybe he was sexually abused by a man when he was a child. Due to the ghost Evelyn stating that "bad things" happen to him & because of the gay jokes the other brothers made about him
@biggt0820
@biggt0820 4 ай бұрын
I mean I think that was probably what happened, but it's entirely possible the brothers didn't know. Gay jokes are a common thing amongst brothers/male friends, especially towards the younger/weaker ones of the group. So yea its possible, but they clearly loved each other alot, its hard to imagine they'd make such harsh jokes if they knew he was molested by a man.

This movie is underrated as hell. I felt bad for Jack. He definitely had it messed up before he got taken in by his adopted mom. Jack even talks about it in the deleted scenes at their moms burial. Their was even reference that he was sexually abused as a kid. Even tho they weren't blood related, they definitely were like blood brothers the way they were towards each other.

This movie hits hard with my own family, especially the fact i was basically the Jack in our family, my 3 older "Brothers" all had the same exaggerated personalities Bobby, Jeremiah, and Angel have. Yet whithin the past year I lost my "Bobby" and "Angel"... And our "Jeremiah" is a bum who doesn't even talk to his 5 kids. So now every anniversary of my "Brothers" death, i watch this and imagine a different life for us❤.

The actor that plays "Victor Sweet", is the PHENOMENAL actor Chiwetel Ejiofor. If you want to see his TRUE Range..watch him in "12 Years A Slave"..and..."Kinky Boots". In this and 12 years, he nails the American Accent. Another good movie to watch...Judas and the Black Messiah. It's a story as well . Your reactions are great, you don't constantly pause , you ACTUALLY listen to what's being said, everyone else just talks over the movie and tries to be extra funny, then at the end they're like..."I don't get it". Keep up the great work ❤

9/10 Four Brothers = EXCELLENT OK, I'm a girl who normally loves "chick flicks" and comedies, so when I had nothing to do this evening and decided to go see a movie with my parents, (I thought they were seeing "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigalo"...but alas I was incorrect.) and discovered we were going to see "Four Brothers", I was a little upset. I'm normally not one for movies that are seemingly all about people getting revenge and lots of killing and fighting. I dunno..I'm not one for the action/drama type...unless it's a horror movie, and then I'm definitely there. Anyways, I was genuinely surprised at how good this movie ended up being. Each of the four brothers gave an amazing performance. Andre Benjamin showed that he's not only a talented singer, but a talented actor as well. The movie was much better than I had expected. I laughed, and I (almost) cried. It went through a range of so many different emotions and events in the lives of the four troubled men, all adopted when they were children by one amazing woman who became their world. I don't really know what else to say without spoiling the movie, so I'm going to just leave you with all of what I've said, and the fact that I would most definitely recommend this movie to anyone and everyone.

Great reaction, MJ! The scene at the dinner table in which each brother shares their own personal memory of their mother is due to them accepting the fact that their mom is gone and not coming back. The reason Bobby doesn't see her is due to him at the time not being able to accept the fact that she's gone! According to John Singleton(RIP). It was cool that you were able to catch that during that scene! Also, I enjoyed the scene when they're at the attorneys office to discuss personal belongings, and when Bobby stands up, the other three brothers also stand at the same time! A great touch to a classic film.

The saddest part is jack used to be in a severely abusive home, constantly attacked by his parent or care giver etc... which is why he reacted the way he did when they beat and killed the hit men. Also why the mom said your safe now. He had a fear of violence, specifically hitting and kicking violence rather then shooting etc... It's the only logical explanation of his past. Taking survivers or real abuse and their experienced and reactions and behaviors, match Jack's. Delt with a lot of abuse survivors, even had some myself. Used to be beat with a metal pipes and coat wire hangers by a babysitter when I was around 7, also had a abusive step dad and known people whose been through worse. So I know the signs.
