I let my dad drive my 500hp WRX shortly after I finished building it. Back when he was young he was a serious car guy. The last fast car he had was a 1969 Plymouth GTX with a 440 cu in (7.2L) V8 he pulled out and rebuilt which he sold the same year I was born. He says his decision to sell it had nothing to do with me but I know they didn't have a lot of money and I'm not stupid. It never went on a dyno so he isn’t sure what kind of numbers it was putting down but he has pictures of him doing wheelies in it in front of our house so it must have been pretty significant. To get such a heavy car with such a large cast iron block on 2 wheels is impressive. The smile on his face when he put the petal down in my WRX made me so happy. Within a week he was asking me questions about modifying his Dodge Turbo-Diesel pickup. He said he knew he wouldn't be able to really make it fast but felt like he needed to get it up to 1,000ft lbs of torque to make towing his 18ft fishing boat easier.... at least that's the excuse he tried using on my mom. 😈
