This is an old clip. the 'wrong pronouns' got debunked by people claiming to be on the same flight as this mother. Turned out she hadn't booked an extra seat for her toddler, based on the fact that under-2's fly for free as long as they stay on their lap. But. Then you have check the baby car seat into baggage. She didn't do that, she expected the flight to be empty enough that she could park the baby car seat on an empty seat beside her. At the gate, she got faced with the choice: you booked 1 seat, so toddler on your lap, and baby car seat gets left behind because it wasn't checked in. She refused, threw a temper tamper, and got denied access.

As a former frequent flyer, something I discovered years ago, still applied a couple of weeks ago when I last flew somewhere. Smiling, being kind and asking nicely is powerful mojo. Even with gate agents (who all seem meaner than flight attendants to me) People just want to feel respected and even when I don't feel respected I like to think I am mature enough to still show proper respect in return. I've seen this passively embarrass grumpy people and they dialed it down. Tho I've also seen a total a-hole gate agent get totally snotty with a women who was just asking an honest question. I started avoiding that airport and a couple years later that airline no longer existed. Not because of me, but their grumpy gate agents pushed people away from them. I agree with Kelsey, vote with your pocket book.

I concur that friendliness comes free and gets you places, most of the time. If you act unfriendly or condescending, you will get the appropriate response, whichever pronoun you use... This has been debunked. She thought she would get away with not booking a seat for her child and expected to have a seat when she got on the flight, so she brought a car seat, thinking it would get her an extra seat she didn't pay for. She then made this story up because she's clearly a hatemonger and knew certain people would take her at her word when many witnesses stated she was in the wrong, and it had nothing to do with pronouns. All she had to do was leave her car set and have her kid sit on her lap just like any other person with a kid they didn't book a ticket for.

The passenger was travelling with his girlfriend, neither of them was in any way unruly, just the opposite, they were polite even after being told they were going to be offloaded . I felt sorry for them, the guy could not believe what was happenning. He knew the game, he remained polite, just said something in the line of "come on!" and they were both escorted by agents. Also, why did Kelsey assume the mom with babies trying to gate check her stroller, etc. was going on a vacation? People have lots of different reasons for boarding an airplane. She could have been going to a funeral, wedding, or maybe seeing family she hasn't seen in years. She's not necessarily headed somewhere to sight see. Just another thought. Apart from the consumer power advice, the best advice was about going to live in another country for six months. You don't learn anything real about a country in a week or two, ticking the tourist and insta boxes. Live there, participate, learn, make real friends, volunteer (not with high profile projects), help someone fix something or make something better, learn about real life and challenges, understand - live, don't be tourist voyeur. I had the privilege of doing that for 4.5 months this year and I hope to do it for 6 months next year. There are often working holiday opportunities for younger people where you can go for a year or two - I wish I had known about these when I was younger.

There's something I don't get here...in a random situation, how do pronouns come into play in a situation like this anyway? If this woman is talking to the flight attendant in question, pronouns would only be applicable if she decides to use the third person. If she's talking to ANOTHER flight attendant about the attendant in question, then for some reason she's talking about someone, meaning there was probably an issue to start with because they're talking ABOUT someone. I can't, sincerely, think of a legitimate reason that pronouns would come into discussion unless the customer said "sir" or "ma'am" (which are nouns, not pronouns) and then refused to correct herself when told differently.

I’m a flight attendant for a major USA airline and this video made me laugh in so many ways. There is a phenomenon that happens when a passenger boards an aircraft. They seem to lose all common courtesy and manners. Tapping on the shoulder to get my attention is nothing because 99% of the time passengers tap me on the a$$. Big deal? No. But when you have 3 flights with 200+ pax on each flight = 600 pax to manage. That can be a lot of a$$ patting in a day. On the other hand, in my work group some FAs are way too sensitive and touchy about things. I blame it on hiring practices in recent years where the bar is set pretty low. My opinion. I’m about to retire within the next 10 months. I’ll probably never step foot on an airplane again. I actually really enjoy my job a lot. I show up on time, wear what I am supposed to wear, carry my required equipment, do my assigned position and call it a day. I smile and do my best to stay in my own lane. By the time I get home I couldn’t even tell you where I went because it is all the same. Airlines are trying to squeeze every penny by packing in more seats, crewing with minimum crews, short layovers, long days with multiple flights. It takes a toll on the crews and the passengers. 🤷🏻♀️

Lmao, people like you are the problem. You don’t manage anything. The people on the plane are paying for you to do your job, and that makes them your boss. If you want to pretend that you manage them, they will make it hard for you. It’s 100% caused by the attitude of the flight crew. So if you want your job to be easier, then you need to respect the people who are the reason you make a pay check. They pay your salary and are your boss.

@@TheLindaEdit Lmao, that’s what you think. Those passengers are paying for service, it’s part of the agreement to buy a ticket. Now you think you don’t have to provide that service? You could be replaced with a monkey and people would enjoy the improvement in service and more polite staff. You are in the service industry, and therefore your job is to serve those who paid for the ability. You are not to boss them around, they are paying and you deal with it. There is no bigger joke than a stew saying they have anything to do with safety. Usually, stews just get in the way and cause more problems, and that’s according to NTSB reports.

Putting my seat back lower was 35.00, and using the tray table was 20.00. Booking online was free but paying with a credit card was 5% more. Talking was extra, as was looking at other passengers. I'm 56 and have traveled a lot when I was in my teens and 20s. Kelsey is right regarding traveling. You see some cool location and a few others and they all end up being "Another exotic place, but it wasn't worth the chaos". I started writing this before Kelsey mentioned "Go camping in the mountains" and I was about to write exactly that. Especially if you live in the US, there are a LOT of places you can get to in a car in less time than flying (when you consider leaving to get to the airport, fly, get off the plane, get a rental)... in that time, you can drive hundreds of miles to get to some cool location inside the US. Camping, backpacking, beaches, skiing... mentioning skiing. If you ski, there's not a lot of difference between skiing in Taos or even around Lake Tahoe as there is in the French Alps. Once you hit the slopes, it's just the side of a mountain covered in snow. Go see Hawaii (just don't go on the tourist guide package), explore and enjoy, but going there over and over gets pretty boring. My travel buddy and I ended up spending eight of the fourteen days in Hawaii in the video game arcades (this was back in the early 90s). He and I had already seen everything to see in Hawaii. We'd been across Mexico and Europe, then it all blended together, the thrill was gone and so was tens of thousands of dollars. One does not get fulfilled by traveling around the world over and over. Do it once, or take a cruise ship to the Bahamas and another to Alaska (very relaxing and exotic). My son is in the Navy. In the last 9 years of being aboard a ship, he's seen every corner of the globe. He's had weeks to explore different ports of call and at first he was like, "Lisbon is SO cool!", Now he's at the point where he couldn't care less about where he's going. "It's just another tourist spot". That's exactly what it's like when you travel for the sake of travel. It all becomes another mountain or jungle or hot, sweaty, or cold and freezing place to go. Everything you need to see can be found right here in the US and Canada within driving distance if you have a couple weeks vacation. Sorry for the essay.

Camping was a blast with all my kids. They loved it. We went many places. Even if I could’ve afforded plane tickets for all the kids, I still preferred loading them in the van and driving. We played great music and they were singing the whole way and lots of scenery.

Back in the '80s I went with a tour group to Europe. 18 cities in 15 days, go home and develop your film to find out where you've been. It was fun and lots of good memories, but I don't really recommend traveling that way. The best part of the trip was the fact that we spent 3 days in Paris and I got to spend time with the people that I'd become friends with in the tour group and we just walked around the streets of the city rather than going to the tourist spots.

The only genuine cool experience when traveling to somewhere far away is the possibility to eat authentic food of that country. But you should have some guidance to pick the right restaurants. There is a difference, however, when your travels enhance your proficiency. Like, as an architect you mighr want to see some details in 3D as compared to a photo; or as a traffic planner, you might want to observe and compare the behaviour of e.g., cyclists in Germany and the Netherlands. But Kelsey and your son are right, the first couple of foreign destinations are somewhat fascinating. After that, you will find the same stores everywhere, a building is a building is a building, the climate doesn't suit you as expected; the locals show odd behaviors that you don't understand; they might speak languages which you don't comprehend. But, you will see your home country with different eyes -- if you are the type.

Most folk go on holiday off the back of being in a dull/unhappy place of work. The 'holiday' is thus an escape for most folk. The minute it becomes a job, the thrill is gone...as Mr Hawkins, Darnell and King would say. After many years, I'm kinda bored with travel.

Travel and many other things are just ways people assume will lead to happiness. But to chase happiness, is to choose to always be unhappy with the present - the only time where you really exist.
@markbobich6335Ай бұрын
Not true for everyone. There are many happy people who are passionate about travel. Those are the people who have amazing experiences when traveling. Sometimes even transformative ones. Same thing applies to relationships. Finding a person to be with in life doesn’t make you happy. You need to already be happy before finding a partner. But the right partner can certainly enhance that happiness.

Sorry, but how did this become a matter of getting the flight attendant kicked off the plane? That's make believe to make a point that didn't seem to be the case (however the case was). I'm, as you, just going by what's said. As much as I enjoy your videos, this is taking an excursion into the abstract. Bottom line is that this may well have been justified, but not because it was a matter of flight attendant or passenger, but because of something that couldn't be reconciled. Sorry, but it's the first time I got too upset to watch past 8min.

Dearest Kelsey, I fear you are missing a brilliant commercial opportunity here. PAX are the greatest problem in air travel these days, they are disgruntled, they need feeding/watering, require rest-room breaks and fail to follow simple instructions. There is also the overhead of herding staff inflight to monitor them. Clearly the ideal solution will be to load the PAX in cold-storage as cargo, they will be quiet and are easily loaded flat-pack en-mass. Also for them the flight itself will seem to pass almost instantly. Win win.

According to United, the real reason the woman from the first clip was barred from the flight is because they (the party of 3) had too many carry-on bags. That being said, if a passenger accidently misgenders a flight attendant, I disagree that it would be a safety concern. We are all adults, we need to work around our differences. and we need to be more forgiving when people make mistakes.
@annekeener4119Ай бұрын
I wonder if it wasn’t a pronoun issue but she was arguing with a flight attendant over bags and called a male flight attendant the word for a female dog. That is misgendering and being combative. However, we don’t know what happened. However, I doubt it was just using the wrong pronoun.

I really enjoyed your channel for a long time, but maybe do some due diligence before you open your yap. Believe it or not, people fly with babies all the time. I wouldn't recommend it, but I've done it myself, don't blame the victim for the crime dumbass. The vast majority of people who fly with toddlers or newborns don't do it for funsies: they do it because they have to. The "misgendering" thing was more about a person trying to get something that they didn't pay for, so they made up the whole controversy that didn't exist. Go back to your corner and think about what you said. I'm very sad that I have to do this, but I'm very much unsubscribed with prejudice.

Agreed. A free society is only free when people respect the unwritten social contracts within it. You have the right to talk during a movie, but you infringe on other patrons right to clearly listen and enjoy a movie. There have been too many violations of social contracts while flying since the pandemic that infringe on other passengers' peace.

Guys, he’s right about living elsewhere. When I moved from my small home town to Los Angeles, the culture shock was massive despite being from the same state. It was a whole new biome of different peoples, cultures, food, celebrations, etc. I learned so much, and gained more of a worldview than I ever would have staying home. It was scary, way out of my comfort zone, but I’m glad I experienced that. I’m still in LA after 18 years and I’m still discovering new things. It’s terrifying to leave home. I cried the whole way. Was the fear and anxiety worth it? YES. A question for you, Kelsey: from all the places you’ve been, what is your favorite non-US American snack?

This woman's upset that she sucks and the airline kicked her off for a valid reason, then films a TikTok to try and enrage her follower (maybe more than one, but only if she's paying) by using a culture war buzzword.

Right getting kicked off is crazyyy. I have flown so so many times in my life and I have never experienced ANYONE getting kicked off. I can’t imagine what you have to do to get kicked or denied. I’ve violated bag rules sometimes but i was always nice so no one ever said anything. Cuz i had my purse and a backpack and apparently one personal item means only one of those. Once you get to the gate no one cares as long as you can shove them under the seat. Flying is always pleasant for me, i like making up stories for all the strangers around me and where they’re going. And some times i got to have great conversations with people. It’s so cool i love planes

I don't like Atlanta due to the way you are herded, but I pay extra and get a connection in another city. But that's just me. I recently went on a cruise and chose to cruise from England rather than fly. But flying is sometimes a necessity, and I watch my Ps and Qs and just watch the films and sleep. Flying is a means to an end for me, but I do agree that you shouldn't put it on a card and then pay 24% or whatever interest. I also love hiking, so I get out in the hills. This is the first Kelsey rant I've seen. Perhaps there are more, but I agree that a quick google search could have debunked this lady. I still enjoy the videos, though, Kelsey. Keep them coming.

People should be respectful, but that goes both ways. You want respect, you have to give respect. After all, respect is EARNED. If this woman feels done wrong, she needs to file a lawsuit. If she is in the wrong, she needs to move on and stop talking about it. I honestly feel for flight attendants, they have to deal with a lot of people, and not all of those people are having a good day. I'm usually not having a good day when flying. But i DO try my very best to not annoy the flight attendants or other passengers. Why? Is it because i am a nice guy? Nope, i do this because i want as little trouble when i fly as possible. And being an a-hole on a flight makes it WORSE not better. So be nice, even if you are an a-hole at heart. ^-^

My husband and I are retired now and just returned from Scotland - we live in America. The travel portion was so hard because we went 26 hours traveling there and back! We couldn't sleep on the flight from Seattle to Paris, and the LONG lines and waiting in Paris were so hard after being up for HOURS. We had the longest layover waiting to get back to our small town in the middle of nowhere. I am in no hurry to fly again internationally. We can do road trips in our own country thank you very much.
