I understand where the mom was coming from and it actually made sense for her to punish him since he was obviously too young for social media anyway. But when it comes to doing that to a young adult, that's a whole different story because not only they already know right from wrong, but they can be also aware of the boundaries that they need to have in order to have a clean public image on the Internet.

The mother just wants to protect her child from dangerous people online. I don't blame her. There are so many creeps, predators, and scammers online. People should be socializing in person more anyway, communicating online is so draining and it can make people lazy and flaky in regards to living a proactive life. I rather communicate in person myself it is so much more rewarding and it's nice getting out of the house.

I was pretty young when i played online games, so my mom had this mentality for a bit. Then she understood that playing online is still me being social, so she didn't intrude unless I was yelling at people lmao I used to play with this dude who was in his mid 20s and he was the coolest dude I've met online. We'd play COD Zombies all the time and shoot the shit while shooting shit. I was 13 when I first met him. We drifted apart because he has a family and I obviously still had some growing up to do. I hope he's doing well.

Good on her for doing that! She's not wrong, idk how old this kid was but until you're 18 you have no privacy especially when you're on the internet. You have to be careful and I agree, him lying to her about what he was doing makes it clear she cant trust him to be honest about shit in the future which if he was unlucky enough to be preyed on by some weirdo, would make it very hard for him mother to get him back safely. Good mom in my book. And this is coming from a guy who lied to his mom about what he was doing on the internet as a kid and why he was sneaking back down to the computer after everyone went to bed. I started pc gaming at the age of 9 and Im 26 now, I was super stupid but I luckily I was never made a victim of any creeps.
