This song is mislabeled as a Chaka Khan solo song, even on Spotify. It was actually the last singles she released with her band Rufus. It was included on their final album Live. Stompin’ at the Savoy. The often over looked Rufus was a great band of talented musicians and writers. David “Hawk” Wolensky went on to compose numerous music scores. Drummer Andre Fisher became a writer and producer for other artists. His replacement John “JR” Robinson became one of the most in demand session. Drummers in rock, R&B, and jazz. Guitarist Tony Maiden joined Lionel Richie’s band. Bassist Bobby Watson became a session player and producer. He helped launch the career of Rene & Angela which was Angela Winbush’s springboard to a successful solo career as a singer, writer & producer.

"Ain't Nobody" is one of my 1980s jams. It spent one week at #1 on the Billboard R&B chart on October 15, 1983. It later crossed over to the Top 40, peaking at #22 on the Billboard Hot 100 on December 3, 1983. "I Feel For You" is her signature 1980s song, and it was a superstar collaboration. Prince wrote and produced the song, Grandmaster Melle Mel provided the rap vocals, and Stevie Wonder played the Harmonica. It spent three weeks at #1 on R&B, beginning on November 3, 1984; and peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 on November 24, 1984. Her signature 1970s song is "Tell Me Something Good," credited to Rufus featuring Chaka Khan. Coincidentally, its peak position and date are exactly the same on both the Hot 100 and R&B charts: #3 on August 24, 1974. "Do You Love What You Feel" was a transdecadal hit for Rufus & Chaka, spending three weeks at #1 on R&B, beginning December 15, 1979; and later crossing over to the Top 40, peaking at #30 on the Hot 100 on February 2, 1980. "Through The Fire" was an R&B hit of hers in 1985 that enjoyed a resurgence in popularity when Kanye West sampled it in his 2004 hit "Through The Wire."
