I was a mom of seven during the 1980's -1990's Fortunately I could stay at home on our farm. Car drives to the school bus, shopping, helping with farm dairy, shopping , cleaning house, looking after children, then home schooling, gym and piano lesson drives, two children to boarding school 3 1/2 hours away so drives there once a month ,,, shall I go on?? ...I FEEL FOR THIS MOM! And then they thought us STAY AT HOME MOM'S DID NOTHING.... and this mom was even working besides all that. Great idea to strike!

I seriously, to this very day, do NOT to understand why anyone would even suggest stay- at- home moms are lazy or do nothing. Obviously, they knew nothing of the responsibilities and work involved. I worked a full-time job for years before becoming a stay- at -home mom, and I can attest that it was way more work and responsibility. I had a 9-5 Mom- Friday job, so I could come home and relax until the next morning, and I had my weekends to myself. I have never regretted my family, and I loved being a stay- at -home mom, but to say stay- at- home moms are lazy or do nothing is insanely ignorant. Maybe the term " stay-at- home moms" is part of the problem; it makes it sound like " not working mom". I once said to someone that I don't work when asked about my job. This sweet person said, " You take care of the meals, the cleaning, the laundry, dishes, etc, plus you homeschool. On top of all of that, you take your kids to lessons, doctors' appointments, and stay up when when they're sick, etc. Don't say you don't work; you do. You just don't get a paycheque for it all.

Yeardly Smith is like the Lisa Simpson we know, and on another note, this reminds me of that episode where Marge Simpson is stressed out and blocks traffic.

This would be considered verbal spousal abuse today and grounds for divorce.

I’m sure there were a lot of divorces back then for this reason. My parents divorced in 88. Mom worked as a nurse and took care of 3 busy kids. She had no time for herself. Dad took care of the yard and the vehicles. That’s it. That’s all he did. She cooked him a completely separate dinner to his specifications. She ate what she fed us kids. She ironed his clothes, even his jeans had to be ironed. She did it all. He was a pharmacist at a grocery store and he never did any grocery shopping. All he did and still comments on is what a slob she was. That the house was never clean. Gee I wonder why 🤷♀️

Remember, this is fiction to make a point. Yes, it’s exaggerated. We kids, nine of us, all had chores every single day from when we were about three or four. Once Walter was in school, Mom went back to work. Whoever slacked off without a good reason, well, sibling rivalry can be a good thing.
