Kevin is a true farmer in the way he tears into that pie to cut it. Rhonda, are you sure you watched your mom cook when you were growing up? You handled those kitchen utensils like a newlywed just learning to cook. It was refreshing showing your cooking/baking art and how you go about it. Line up 12 mom's in a kitchen and they each have their style of cooking/baking and rarely will you see a majority of mom's do things the same way. Always a tad different flair. Young and older moms have their own cooking/baking techniques, some better, some not. Each to your own is what makes it special. I am a man who can cook, bake and sew with the best of them. You gotta do what you gotta do. Learn or starve. Sandwiches get old, when a hot meal can be prepared. PS. If you can figure out a tractor manual ,a cooking recipe is a snap. Key word (DIRECTIONS)

Bloopers are always good, I don’t know your all ages but when you have a 20,40,60 years mixed together it’s always going to be interesting. Mom would always take the leftover crust and roll it out and put cinnamon and sugar on it. Did the guys like the way the crust edge looked, the flavor it’s what were after 👍

Ya'll had way too much fun makin' those 🥧 🥧 🥧 Ronda! Your mom must have Southern roots as I've only heard of a "smidgen" used in Southern kitchens/recipes??? They looked like classic pecan pies to me...and I've eaten them all my life...mostly around the late year holidays...but always available in small town cafes for dessert! Great job you, your mom, and 'kenzie did! Oh, and by the way...birthday boy a/k/a Ethan.... got "shorted" on pie by his dad! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ethan! There's an extra pie around there somewhere...lol...👍🤣🙃😅🤣😅🙃🤣😅🤔👀☕🥧🍦🍨

. . . concerning the use of the word "stupid", our grandson was a little over two years old and he ran full speed at the fire door in their apartment to open it. (The door had a crash bar.) Connor said, "Stupid door!" . . . then he added, dad says that I can't call people stupid, but I can say 'stupid door'. (It is one of those things that you tell at a wedding reception.) 😉

I had fried peach pies on Tuesday made with peaches I picked this summer. About two weeks before I had them also. The first time my mother made them she used canned biscuits. I complained the whole time that that’s sacrilegious and not as good as dough made at home. The first time the pies were ok. Tasted good but didn’t hit the spot. The second time I took the peaches out of the freezer and actually talked her into making dough. The best fried pies I’ve ever had. I told her and she agreed canned biscuits aren’t as good. I told her homemade pies were even better than my neighbor who’s now deceased. Mom told me to be careful and not let the neighbor hear me say that or she’d rolling in her grave. 😂🤣

Their is a huge difference in taste of Pecans in different Varieties. In my opinion the better tasting Pecans are not from the large Commercial Growers in the Grocery store, but from small growers on line. I like the Cape Fears & Stuart’s but have to buy locally or online to insure the variety I want. The better tasting varieties I feel are only grown by the smaller producers & buying straight from the farm is the only way to insure a variety type.
