Feels like I should be an undercover cop with cool sideburns with a African American detective partner (with an afro and side burns) riding shot gun in our undercover car from the 70's, cruising through the streets of San Francisco or something....I like this.

This is the best ever. I have never seen a band groove on it so hard, check the drummer. These must be the most chilled dudes in the world. 5 stars from me, its stuff like this that makes life just that little bit better.

Ive listened to a lot of phish. They never cease to amaze me, how four people could be that synergistic and connected is just a miracle. Even if one "messes up" its like they all mess up, at the same time, in the same way. It is truly absurd.

This was phun. People had no idea what the hell was going on. I remember when they came on it was like a tornado. We were all on the lawn and then everybody just (reasonably relaxed) rushed down into the pavilion and it was a Phish show for about half an hour. I remember leaving to drive home to NY after and feeling like we should be going to the next show but it could have just been all the green tea and cliff bars I ate. ;)

@zeromeobass i'm gonna lay it down for you man. i loved the gd and allmans but didn't really care for phish. it took me about 6 months of trying them over and over again to really "get it". harry hood from a live one did that for me, it all made sense to me. phish jams had such an incredible sense of direction that i think grateful dead jams just never had. obviously gd from 1970-77 was unreal, but phish's jamming conversation and themes that they work with is just so much more impressive.
@MikeIppolitogroove3515 жыл бұрын
Why must people compare. Umph is just next in line. They are super fuckin talented and I imagine phish was somewhat of an influence to them as the dead was to phish. And though their music is similar in some ways, I think they're different in more; cresendos, progressions, improv and approach among other things. One thing is for certain, they're both extremely hard working bands and just a fuckin joy to watch, to listen to, or at least appreciate if your fan of music and its not your cup of tea

I bet it will be great again....but DON'T expect greatness right away, these next several yearas need to rise up to a PEAK PERFORMANCE at an unknown future performance. I can't think of any other current band who's rise and fall of a single experience encompass' the entire tour. Each tour is its own show, its own experience...phish shouldn't be critiqued on a show to show basis, but a tour to tour/ year to year basis.

@smokasomeweed Funk is a reggae rip off you say? Thats about as stupid as the name smokasomeweed? what are you 5 lol im gladd your going through the whole i like bob marley and smoking weed therfore i am all knowing.. False bob marley first of all isnt even that good, there all multiple peoplee that were way more talented and were not recognized because they werent MAINSTREAM. Sad to say but the bob marley craze is equivalent to being a hipster these days. Not to mention how much more complicated phish is, They have 4 people in there band and can harvest sounds it would take a symphony of musicians to play. So saying funk is a rip off or your trash ass nigga bop is just down right ignorant.

@sullivangang : sorry dude have to disagree about Allman brothers. Have Seen ABB at least a dozen times and they are great but not nearly like Phish (I compare when both bands are on.) Mostly I say this because ABB are blues Jams and that's about it - Phish can and do play EVERYTHING! I don't compare phish and the dead - it's just not worth it but the dead can play a ton a genres as well!
@danjmcl14 жыл бұрын
@zeromeobass if you dont get it then dont call them an atrocity, they are super intelligent, try listening to songs like divided sky, foam, and reba, and listen from the compostitional side of it, not weather or not its simple and catchy. Theyre slick as they come and play almost all genres of modern music. Thats why people love them, because theyre more talented than any band out there.
@rrtierney14 жыл бұрын
@zeromeobass also i wouldn't consider phish, the dead, or the allman bros jam bands. when these bands were forming the term "jam band" didn't exist. these 3 bands just completely did their own thing and made their own place in music, i don't think they deserve to be lumped in with "Jam bands" who all kind of just became the same thing. jamming songs relentlessly with their given genre of music. phish, the dead, and the allmans knew when to jam and when not to. the disco biscuits and moe. DONT
@smithson87614 жыл бұрын
@AtmaRising Well put man. That's really good advice for a musician ma thank you. Simplicity is the key. Somehow we have to teach everyone to "listen" to music and treat it as art and realize that a certain level of quality is necessary for it to be classified as art or music. It makes me sick to my stomach to see the garbage that passes as music these days. No thought, skill or passion put in to any of it. So disgraceful.
@Horus51515 жыл бұрын
People don't say that, do they? I think you probably mean " ate mushrooms" or "smoked weed" but I doubt very many people smoke ICE before a phish concert, lol, that actually sounds friggin ridiculous. Also no one is trying too hard to be anything. People are just living life as it makes them happy, even if it makes you uncomfortable and aggressive.
@whitneyOU14 жыл бұрын
@zeromeobass I feel that way about some jam bands (Umphrey's, Cheese) but Phish is SO INCREDIBLE, especially live. But I respect anyone's opinion bc I hate when Cheese fans freak on me for not loving them. Incredible crowd at both Um and Cheese shows but I just can't get behind the music. PHISH ROCKS!
@theseanze15 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it figures, Phish goes onto live TV on a network for a typically different crowd, expose themselves to a new audience, and poorly represent themselves. This is the most boring rendition of Moma Dance I've ever heard. But I'd be sketched on live TV too...
@phreak8916 жыл бұрын
i got into them a little too late to get to see them live but i'm the reunion is gonna be at Big Cypress for a a 10 year aniversery cause i'll be living within 50 miles of it. and even if it is'nt, i'm not gonna miss it wherever it is either, it'll be my first show and hopefully not my last.
@fox2mike2816 жыл бұрын
I just wanna see a Phish show regardless of how good they are. They broke up the same year I really started falling in love with them. Just once I want to clap twice between phrases during Stash, scream the obvious during Wilson, and get raped by Mike's bass during a Weekapaug Groove.
@satch197912 жыл бұрын
I don't care if this isn't the "best" version of this song, or the tenth best version of this song or the worst version, it still sounds good. It takes a whacked out Trey on some serious medication to eff up a song, and that's not the case here.
@rrtierney14 жыл бұрын
@fox2mike28 if that's what you want you are going to have an amazing time. don't listen to what people here say, if you took a show from this year and put it in the 90s people wouldn't have even cared/noticed a difference. they would have rocked out as always
@mosman2215 жыл бұрын
While i agree that post hiatus they were def on a downslide. How can you say that they fell off after 97' i went to some of my best shows in 98' the worcester coliseum run in the fall was effing balls.
