Cinebloom and Black pro mist should be use in different conditions or scenarios, Mist as it name make it for nature background morning Misty or foggy look, cinebloom is for city street light with pollution like look. Mist will cover and lost more object details, Cinebloom just created a reflections look from the air density around the lighting. don't miss them up. i would pick Cinbloom for sure.

Yeah I've even done it myself a few times and it's just very situation dependant. I use it when I know this is the look I want for the footage but there are times that I know the client may not want this type of look so I've added it in slightly in post. It never is as good as the physical glass as it sort of has that edited, digital feel but it is always an option.

Great video! Keep going and learning and you're gonna have a top channel in no time. I notice that the BPM preserves the midtone contrast far more than the Cinebloom, and personally I think that looks more controlled and useable. I like that the BPM bloomed the edge of the light so it was no longer a harsh square. The Cinebloom looks a little 60s Star Trek glamour close-up for me. I've been using the Moment Cinebloom for quite some time now in photography. The 10% has become my must have, especially since I'm using Mastin Labs film emulations which tend to be high contrast by nature. Other than some ugly ghosting artifacts on very few images there's no flaws in this filter for my personal taste. Moment even added 5% strength their inventory now. However I still want to give a Tiffen black pro mist a try for preserving the shadows in nighttime shots. So I guess I'll keep my Cinebloom 10 and 20 in 72mm and get a Tiffen in 82 for my latest lens to compare them.
@JusttJC2 жыл бұрын

You've ignored the penultimate: The Zeiss Softar I, II and III. When I owned a Hasselblad, these were the only front-of-the-lens options for the 150mm Sonnar and 250mm Sonnar lenses for an over-all soft-focus effect. The soft-focus effect changes as you stop-down the lens, but the effect stays with the lens stopped all the way down. The Softar lower the contrast less than most "soft-focus" filters although the Tiffen Pro-Mist Black isn't a big contrast killer with MOST lenses. A very old adage is "Use soft-focus with contrasty light" for flattering portraits. Believe it and heed the saying. This was learned by portraitists 170 years ago. No point in re-inventing the wheel.
@JusttJC3 жыл бұрын
Wow, thanks for that lesson, didn’t know that before. This is the first time i’ve heard of the Zeiss Softar personally so i’ll check it it. However I wouldn’t say new filters coming out are re-inventing the wheel, more so just providing different creative options depending on what type of effect you’re looking to create.

Don't waste money on that cinebloom. It's the same effect with a black net stocking in front of your lens. Hazy all the way without retaining any sharpness or contrast.
