This is so wild, when you think of normal people having trouble dialing in their "Base Level" Coffees and dont know how to do it. And then there is This...! I Love dialing in new Coffees but when i think about trying all Styles with a new bean on This Grinder, damn you Need at least 200g of Coffee Just to know where the sweet Spot is😂. But a very good Tool for competitive people !

Very interesting grinder and your assessment is spot on. My hand grinder is for my coffee travel kit, and this grinder has too many options to make it suitable for that, and it's heavy.

Yeah this one is not built for portability. It CAN go with you but is more of a dial in Swiss Army knife for home

Spiffy! It's so nice that they engineered so many options in one unit so you don't have to have a bunch of extra things. That fines sifter is really cool!

thank you for this informative video. i think this could be a helpful tool for roasters like me. roasting with different temperatures, and increments and testing each batch.... more dialing options before i can deliver the roasted beans to my clients.

This seems like unlimited grind variation can be produced by this grinder. Very interesting!

hmm, surely its still a combo of top and bottom settings. Surely, aside obvious burr characteristic differences, you could do set 1 and set 2 on a good single burr grinder and get commeasurable results.

This was, to me, your most interesting review of a coffee gadget. Upper burrs, lower burrs, reverse direction - for those 'who like to 'play with their coffee' it's an entire field of rabbit holes - absolutely endless. It was quite fascinating. Good job explaining the grinders functions (and good pros/cons). For myself, I have a Knock Feldgrind (V2) for when using my main grinder is not an option for some reason. Does a very serviceable job, though I don't use it often.

For someone where coffee is a primary hobby, not just another part of the day, this makes perfect sense. We want that chase, that constant fascination with what could be better and how to get there. Also if I had this grinder I would probably have another one (most likely an electric one) to grind something quick and mindless when I wanted that. All that said, no way I could afford this 😂

When I first got into making home espresso I had a Baratza Encore but I couldn’t get the grinds fine enough so I bought a hand grinder. Hand grinder was great but took longer than I wanted to grind enough espresso for my morning. So for the longest I would grind my beans in the Encore and finish them in the hand grinder. The trick was in the first grind, finding a grind that was not too course or too fine otherwise it wouldn’t go through the hand grinder at all.

I can see this grinder being included in the baristas recipe, just like the Aeropress. I think this will definitely open up more discussion among coffee enthusiasts about grind particle size and how that affects the taste. I think this is more than just a grinder, but a tool.

The video, mentioned less fines on the end result is by doing most of the work at the top, with a close to end result setting then finishing at bottom. Surely, if the freedom of this grinder is to allow balancing top and bottom grinding settings, the same can be achieved with other grinders. I could set my hand grinder 20% of the work off, then set it to end result grind. All without the extra expense.

Hmm, if the upper burrs do the most work it maybe results in a slow feed situation at the lower burrs wich then is creating fewer fines at that stage? Would be very interesting to see data on particle distribution of each burrs. Can one run it without the top one only using the 2nd? Thank you for this review. Im always very curious on manual grinders.
@DaddyGotCoffee
@DaddyGotCoffee 2 ай бұрын
You can. Because the bottom burr is much larger it is harder to turn in this configuration and also creates more fines :)

With that spread you’re certainly not doing too bad! Yes, there is definitely a certain “type” for this grinder. And while they may not all be reviewers, I’d hazard a guess that a lot of reviewers fit that type! Definitely a maximialist approach in terms of flexibility compared to the general scope of hand grinders

Yes. On filter this is very noticeable. On espresso it’s faster/easier but still a hard grind. IMO in order to justify the price you should be into this for other reasons besides grind speed
