Why don't some of these pilots go around for another approach. They are often completely out of runway, and yet still elect to continue the landing.
@billblack85754 жыл бұрын
It also makes me afraid to try retracts because there seems to be a lot of problems with gear not deploying
@roadsweeper14 жыл бұрын
@@billblack8575 A lot of crashes with modern RC aircraft are because of retract failures. People go with them though, because as far as warbirds go, they look crap in the air with permanently deployed gear. If you want fixed gear, best to go with aircraft that aren't supposed to retract, or go super large scale, so the retractable gear is strong enough to work properly.
@sheldonholy50474 жыл бұрын
@@billblack8575 I don't understand how these people have so many issues with retracts, other than poor installations. I've had many models with air/spring, air/air, built in servo and external servo operated retracts and I've never had a single problem

@wrestling10134 жыл бұрын
It looks like it’s going 75% throttle which is way too much speed
@Nightmareonscamstreet4 жыл бұрын
I was always taught that the plane needs to be on the verge of a stall before flaring out the last speed to touch down gently. Most of the crashes on landing are because of excess speed or mainly because the pilot tried to force the aircraft down while it was too fast.

It never ceases to amaze me how guys can be so good and building these beautiful scale planes and be so incredibly bad at landing! It is a bit of an artform but there are simple technics as well. Like ground affect. The cushion of air created by wing tip vortices...half the distance from the ground as the wingspan...on average and depending on wing type. (Delta wing for example). Or... not using right rudder on a single engine during take off and using back elevator on tail draggers to GENTLY allow the tail to come up and not nose over. Whether a plane is 2 pounds or 200 tons the same flight dynamics apply! It's all still simple aerodynamics. Some of these guys could really benefit from some real flight training!

RCScaleAirplanes I hope my mild sarcasm is taken with the humour it was meant with. @RCScaleAirplanes4 жыл бұрын
@@GayorgVonTrapp Don't worry. Although my native language is not English, I have well understood your mild sarcasm. Unfortunately, most people don't understand what this video is all about. Even very good pilots sometimes have a MOMENT where they either misjudge the situation or their model no longer works correctly. Regarding the undercarriages, I would like to mention that they have a predetermined breaking point so that major damage can be avoided. Some pilots have then probably built this breaking point too unstable.

Good video, although I don't get why the Komet and the glider were in there? What was wrong with those landings??? How else are they supposed to land, the Komet doesn't have any wheels (OK it clipped the grass tops slightly, so what), and the glider only as a single wheel. Awesome dead stick landing though, at least the pilot gets to find out why it went dead stick. Do feel sorry for the fireball dude though, you know when an aircraft hits that hards, its almost pointless going to see if anythings salvageable, you pretty much know its a case of taking a big dustbin along with you for all the firewood... and that landing with half a wing, that's how its done :) OK, shouldn't have lost the wing in the first place, but managing to land an RC model with half a wing, damn good flying, models aren't as forgiving as real aircraft, they don't like flying on a wing and a half.
