I can see the Milky Way from my house, but I live off-grid on a mountain so there's very little electric light near me. The stars at night are breathtaking! I used to climb on top of a huge flat boulder near my house and lie on my back and stargaze. That was before I found out we have mountain lions here. Now I don't go outside at night if I can help it.

Google "dark sky community near me." These are towns that choose to minimize light pollution, to offer the best star-gazing possible. They're in every state, so you probably won't need to travel far. :-)

Go out into the countryside on a moonless night. You'll see the Milky Way just fine.

What exactly makes you an expert? I pity you. You are so jaded. I have a gorgeous collection of photos that I have taken of scenery, that are just as good or in some cases, better than those featured here, and NONE of them have been doctored. Just because you can’t take a beautiful photo, doesn’t mean the rest of the world are incapable. Oh.. and if you don’t like the soundtrack, mute it!
