I worked at commercial remodeling and my boss wanted me to estimate what it would cost for us to replace 8 large glass skylights that were all 10 stories above a hotel's lobby. I told him to pass on it, as none of us had the experience or the tools. He bid anyway, but was underbid by almost 50%. The winning bidder ended up dropping the very first slab of glass all the way down to the lobby, because they didn't have the correct tools either. Luckily no one was hurt, but that's when the hotel found out they didn't have insurance either! They also didn't speak any English!

I have an extensive knowledge (50+ years) of construction, so I knew when to just walk away from some jobs. So, basically I was saving him from himself and from losing a ton of money! But, that's what he hired me for and that's why I got paid the big bucks!

The "extra fuel tank" is also known as a 'drop tank' because it's meant to be dropped off the plane once it's empty. Not quite sure what that net is on, but if it's on the carrier that just launched the plane then yes, the tank was dropped prematurely. However, we shouldn't assume it was a technician's error. There are controls in the plane to release it, so it could have been pilot error.

I’m guessing it was an aborted landing attempt judging from how the camera and netting shook just before the plane went over. It’s common practice for them to drop the aux tanks in such situations, from what I understand.

IN BC Canada I got notice in 2005 that ALL crane certifications were null and void in two years: you had to take a field test, no matter. It was a way to get RID of the crackheads, alcoholics, and old school clowns that should just retire (like me). Meanwhile, next door in Alberta..............

The one at 2:50 is great. I used to live in western Colorado where many of the streams are fed by snowmelt and are shallow in the morning and deep and fast in the afternoon. Tourists would rent jeeps and blast through the streams in the beginning of their adventurous day, only to bog down and, sometimes, be swept away on the way back. We would try to warn them, but hey, some people are put on earth for the entertainment of others…
