great series! I will say that it would be helpful if we had a video on how you built your steadicam. I think the biggest trouble people tend to have is finding a steadicam that is as easy to micro adjust as yours, so it would be a great help

I found out that Sony 28-70 kit lens is so light that you can refocus it and zoom in and out without rebalancing the whole thing. Also this lens rocks for filming if you'll be using a camera that can handle dark lenses like Sony a7s series. Since that lens starts from 3.5 aperture. Also kit lens has noiseless refocusing which will save your videos.

What do u recommend Traditional steadicam with 2 weight (like glidecam hd1000) or with 3 weight (like iFootage Wildcat II)? What is difference? (i think that 3 weight steadicam seems little wobblier than traditional 2 weight steadicam)

I have a question about my steadicam! So I am pretty sure I have it balanced and the drop test times at about seconds. But when I use it I feel like I don't have any control on the direction that it goes! It just pans and swivels as I walk. I don't really know what else to try. Do I just need practice? Any tips would be much appreciated!

Any chance you 'd be willing to share which units you got the pieces from? I'm especially curious about the sled (I believe that's what it's called.... the piece on which the camera is mounted). I really like the fact that there is only one locking screw and one adjustment screw.

Cool video, but the tilting down thing is actually wrong. It's simple physics really, The closer to the gimbal you touch, the smoother it will be, because you won't get unwanted motion, if you have a nice slow drop time tilting down should be very easy.
@MomentumProductions19928 жыл бұрын
Swift Productions I disagree. Try them both and you will see the difference. I live and breathe steady cams :)
@swiftproductions52418 жыл бұрын
as do I haha, I'll try it again, but my last results were never any good, it always works much better for me to keep my hand right under the gimbal
@MomentumProductions19928 жыл бұрын
Maybe I can make a tutorial just on that and I will be able to show you what I'm talking about :)
@Smoothblue906 жыл бұрын
The closer you are to the bearing, the more that a small movement from your hands will be translated into a larger movement to the camera. The further your hand is from the bearing, the more that a small movement from your hands then becomes a small movement to the camera. Also the further your hand is from the bearing the smaller the force is required to rotate the main shaft around the bearing. I am with Josh on this one.
