I am the same. I like hobbies that are generally seen as those done by older retirees. I like gardening, embroidery and collecting old tea cups/antiques etc. I have always thought that I was an old soul living in a young woman's body. I don't like crowds and people in group settings. I don't mind one on one with people but I could go ages alone and not feel lonely. I love animals, nature and the slower pace of life. I have high social anxiety and struggle with depression (more in the gloomy parts of the year) I think going to national trust gardens on the weekend would be a dream. I don't have that much here in the US but I do love to see Botanical Gardens. My father worked with plants most of his life so I think that is where I get the love for them. I think what you do as a young person who gardens has a lot more value than parties and all those shallow pursuits that most young people waste their time on. You are conscious of nature and what you can do to be more eco friendly. I think that is brilliant!

My son was diagnosed Autistic at 7 yrs. You are so right..most people have no understanding of autism which is the hardest thing to deal with as a mother. It is people that make things difficult not the autism itself. I love gardening, I grow a lot of flowers. Hello from New Zealand.

What a Godsend your channel is for me! As an introverted person who loves gardens, but lives in a city flat, and a mother of a 14-year-old autistic boy, your channel is so valuable to me! Thank you so much!

So lovely to hear more about your life and in particular autism/ADHD. My daughter is 15 and waiting for diagnosis. It really resonated with what you said about the hurtful things people can say, especially family members. She's struggled to find any role models, so it's lovely for me to share your story with her, thank you! And you've created the most beautiful home and garden and lovely to see you've found a place where you can be safe and happy. 💚🌿

It is such a relief to see a "messy" garden. So many videos are about perfect gardens and perfect gardeners. I've never in my life shown any talent for being perfect! But i love my garden.

I am anew subscriber from Melbourne Australia. Thank you for your honesty and I like what you said about trying to fit into other people's way of living. This has been my problem most of my life. I've always been "too quiet " and strange to others. Glad that you have found a place you feel happy.

So over people commenting on others with words like weird and unusual! We are all unique and wonderful in our own ways. Words can actually hurt and it baffles me the words our own families can throw around like nothing.

I was the same age 17 I was wanting to be in the garden helping my dad hated the boring going out drinking etc with same age group I did exactly what I wanted to do ie what I loved and still do now. I also love animals more than people. I never felt awkward about being called strange I have a strong personality and I do what I want not fit in with others just to fit in .

You speak so wonderfully. You hit the nail on the head about Autism. (I was diagnosed as an adult and a woman, and did have to fight to make myself understood). I have trouble admitting I'm not always as capable as I wish I was. Also your house and garden is beautiful, inspiring me to sort me own garden and make it a bit nicer (we have Kale, Pumpkins, Beans, Rhubarb, courgettes and more but could get more flowers in there, apart from a very tall sunflower called David). Thank you for so honestly sharing about your life and experiences. This is definitely a nicer side of the internet.

I have gardened all my life, and I am so happy for you. Now as a senior I do not have the mobility I had, but still love my garden. I am interested in how you managed to get diagnosed as an adult. My son, who is a young adult realized recently that he is probably autistic, he scored very high on an online quiz

I'm almost exactly like you. I wasn't diagnosed until age 60. I wondered why everything was so difficult. I could not stand working in offices so I got a job working alone at night, that was a relief. Then I worked at home for a few years. Cannot stand being around people or socializing. I really only like being around animals. It's a lot easier to get help now so that's good. There was no help for me when I was younger as everyone just thought I was odd. Only boys were diagnosed with autism. I love your place.

i for one would definitely love to watch a video about your journey with autism!! i have suspected that i have it too for a while now, and i think i present similarly to you (social and sensory issues), and i’ve had the same response from people when i mention it - like friends and family members jump at the chance to assure me of how “normal” i am, even though my school years were fraught with me getting in trouble for running away, i was called weird and creepy by so many of my peers, but now that i mask a lot (which is often deeply painful and exhausting for me), people seem to think i’m “normal”, even though i feel less like myself than i ever have because of how much i subconsciously mask my personhood and my autism. people definitely have very specific preconceived notions about what autism “looks like” so that even though i am often called weird, whether i’m quiet and reserved or when i let my guard down and unmask, because i don’t look like what they think autism looks like, they think i’m just quirky and weird.

Yeah same. I have a diagnosis now but I don't tell everyone because of these kinds of reactions. Same happened with my ADHD as well. As soon as you tell people it's all 'no you're not (insert stereotype here).' So frustrating.

@@sarahstudies8149 at this point i only really tell other people if they also mention being neurodivergent or seeking a diagnosis because i feel like that's the only time i feel understood. or when i tell my family. otherwise it's very much a solitary experience :(

You guys live in the same low-lying region as Jacob Rees Mogg. It's unusual to have dry weather in Somerset, while it's prone to flood. It's the best to ignore people's comments because no mater whatever they say about you, none of what they say will be able to change anything of you. You will still be your own person, and are the only one who can understand yourself better or more than anyone else can.

А может аутизм - это нежелание жить по законам этого мира? Где нужно врать и притворяться, чтобы выжить? А природа, все что создано БОГом, такое красивое и нежное, чистое и не требует от тебя унижений и того что тебе не нравится?
