Wow, you got a great deal on the microscope and Czechoslovakia stamps. The early issues of Czech stamps indeed hold a special charm for collectors. Sorting through them can be both nostalgic and exciting. Thank you for sharing! Looking forward to the next video.

One of the members of my stamp club is a huge collector of Czech stamps. I’ve won a couple auctions at the club of tons of them. Boy! They really put out a lot. I guess I just have the most common ones, cuz I didn’t recognize a lot of what you won. I definitely would have bid what u did on those. They aren’t valuable, but to someone who wants to complete an album of postal history from a country, they are…and are also educational. Looking forward to seeing what else you got. 🎉

Dead country stamps are cool as you don't have to deal with outrageous stamp over issues. Good haul for $53 Canadian.= $38.50 US.

Great purchase, Dad Guy, some beautiful Czech stamps. The set at the top of the page at 20:40, includes one of my favorite authors, the famous Czech author, Karel Capek (second stamp from the left, between Ernest Hemingway and George Bernard Shaw) whose probably biggest claim to fame is introducing the word "robot" to the English language, from his play "R.U.R" (Rossum's Universal Robots). Another nice set is at 20:58 and commemorates Art Nouveau pioneer, Alfons Mucha, who, as someone else pointed out. designed the very first Czech stamps.

Oh that is very interesting about the word robot. Now it is used all the time without most people knowing the origin. Thank you

Wow, $10 for the microscope and that Czechoslovakia collection was a steal! I just love so many stamps in the Czechoslovakia collection. Naturally the bird, other fauna and flora stamps caught my attention, favourite topic "nature", but they are really also just beautiful: 14:57 , 15:00 , 15:45 ,16:01 , 17:34 , 18:29 , 18:45 , 18:52 , 19:07, 19:17 , 19:48 Aawwww cutie pie animals including a hedgehog at 20:07 , more nature 21:32 , 22:21 , 23:22 , and then the ladies by Alfons Mucha at 20:59 , and last but not least, the beautiful ship stamps at 23:14 . I sat ready to take notes of the time stamps today, because I knew I am going to like many of the Czechoslovakia stamps. I am becoming more and more aware of how much I like them, especially the style of art of some of the stamps in the 60s and 70s. Great buy and video! Thanks Rob!

Hi Rob. I hope you find the microscope useful. It's always good to be able to get a good magnification. The best I have x25 and I find it incredibly useful. I was wondering if you would bid on the stamps from Czechoslovakia, so I'm pleased that you got them. The very first issue was designed by the artist Alfons Mucha (one of my favourite artists), who is best known for his posters. The stamps inscribed (or overprinted) DOPLATIT (or DOPLATNE) are postage due stamps. 09:25 The (imperforate) stamps at the bottom of the page with a dove in flight on them I believe are newspaper stamps (but don't quote me on that). 09:44 The stamps with the (linden) leaves, if they are inscribed (something like) Bohmen und Mahren were issued for Bohemia and Moravia which is pretty much today's Czechia. The linden tree is the national flower of the Czech Republic. 09:47 I think that the stamps with the running postman on are also newspaper stamps. 14:12 I have a spare used set of the mushroom stamps if you need them. Check your father's collection and let me know. 20:58 This is a set of 4 stamps (the ones with the beautiful women in flowing gowns) of Alfons Mucha paintings in the style that most people are familiar with. Fabulous collection of Czechoslovak stamps and a good degree of completion of the earlier sets and all for $5! As you said, if you'd paid 10c each for them, they would have come to more than that.
