I share a find of two early Somalia stamps. I thank a generous viewer for some stamps they sent my way. Then I walk through how I organize a new country of stamps into stock books in my collection, using Yugoslavia as an example.

Great video.I really love my Yugoslavian stamps. I believe they ar the most beautiful stamps in my collection. And I collect since 52 years. I would love to have more. I also have like you: Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Armenia and Slovenia. But for me, Yugoslavia is the most beautiful. I just wish I had more. Thanks for the video.

This came up on autoplay after watching your May 18/24 vid. I watched it while doing my own sorting as I combine my collection from my teens with my late mother's, as well as a few albums I purchased from my local dealer. As a result, my old Harris Statesman was not prepared for this rapid expansion lol! Thank you for this video. I like the idea of stock books for countries I have not yet focussed on (eg. Central and South America).

I love that feeling. And the stock book works really well for me with those early stage countries

Love to see how you organise your stamps Ken. And you are spot on with saying there is no right or wrong way. To develop your own style or what feels good for you, I found it essential to see what others did. This was a really helpful video and I am sure a lot if people are interested and wondering how to go about sorting stamps. Thanks Ken!

A very informative strategy to organizing a large batch of stamps. I started sorting into envelopes and then created stock books, but as I found more stamps I had to keep moving stamps around. I ultimately moved over to Scott International Postage Stamp albums part 1, 2 & 3. It's not a perfect solution but it helps me identify the holes. Plus most of the pre 1940's stamps I have are used on hinges so soaking and replacing the hinges as I move them over helps. Thanks for the excellent video. It helps to see how people organize.

Great presentation and its interesting how other collector s sort their stamps. I bought a book called “ A Stamp For Every Country “ by John Knutson. Really good information and can be purchased through Amazon for a reasonable price. I just started collecting the first stamp issued by each country and it is a wonderful way to learn geography and history. I’m already passed 200 different 1st editions. Well Ken you have a wonderful Holiday and as always Happy Collecting the other Ken

This is a great video, Ken! Thanks for walking us through your process. I wish I had your discipline to put the oddball commems and back of book stamps right into your traders. After I make some album pages I'm left with several stockbook pages of single commemoratives spanning decades that I can't decide what to do with. Two notes: I'm glad I'm not the only person who disbelieves the catalogue when I find a $175 stamp in with a bunch of commons. And I have never seen someone write catalogue numbers on the interleaves of the stockbook. That must save a lot of flipping! Happy Holidays and thanks for these videos. 💖
@KensStampCollection6 ай бұрын
Thanks - I just fell in love with the commonness of regular issues. I did get a huge lot of British commems and couldn't resist making an album for them. That and my US commems. My resolve is weak. I have found the occasional high value stamp, but I get my hopes up more often than it turns out to be true. Oh, and when I write on the stock book, I try to use a light touch so I can erase it later.

This was a great, great video, Ken! It was wonderfully informative to see how your sort and organize your stamps. I learned so much. I am sure it will be useful for many beginners that are still working out how to work with their stamps. It was satisfying to see how you got to the "end product" of the Yugoslavia stamps. Working with the catalogue can be pretty complicated it seems. One of the important things to really understand, is that one must collect in the way one enjoys it the most. It does help to see what others do, though, to know how to choose the best, and most enjoyable way, to collect. ... I liked those two Somalian stamps you showed and identified right at the beginning of the video. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR EXCELLENT VIDEOS AND SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE, KEN!

Very interesting! Thank you for sharing your method Ken - what a lovely way to build your countries of interest. During the pandemic I had the opportunity to obtain several dozen boxes of world stamps on pages, loose, on paper, etc and have been happily processing ever since. My method is to remove any damaged, soak all stamps on paper, sort all stamps by country which go into their own glassine envelopes and then into shoe boxes filed A-Z. Then I pull out a country, put them into my world albums (20-volume Minkus Globals) and stockbooks for years not covered by the albums. Topicals from duplicates into stockbooks. The duplicates are in glassine envelopes by country for later trading. For a couple of years during the pandemic I was accumulating a ton of material because there were some amazing deals on bulk collections/accumulations, and I'm glad I did because that material dried up and now I'm catching up. I'll get singles and collections when I have everything organized lol
@KensStampCollection6 ай бұрын
That sounds so relaxing. I've seen some of those Minkus albums -- beasts. 20 of them must need extra floor supports. I'm thinking there are volume sorters like you and me and valuable-stamp collectors, and that the people who collect single, valuable stamps are considered the "serious" collectors. The joy of the sort seems undervalued.

I am a collector of Yugoslavia and I can give you an advice,its moere convenient to collect only the 1st(1921-1943) or the 2nd(1944-1992) because its confusing and never ending ,and 1918-1921 its the whole other story, Fiume too.And WW2 occupation, also. Its very big difference between all of that. That's just my advice
