Mondays at Mirai: The Next Decade

In this episode of Mondays at Mirai, Ryan addresses the recent vandalism and shares his unfaltering positive outlook going into the next decade of Mirai, taking this time to install a generator in preparation for the New Year.
Today we return to our Monday routines at Mirai with copious rain falling and low clouds climbing the grassy knolls. Ryan is seated behind an immense juniper in the workshop as he opens up about the recent unfortunate damages to the garden. Unflustered, Ryan rejoices with excitement for the New Year, bringing us now into our 11th year of Bonsai Mirai. The espresso machine in the office hisses as Ryan tries his hand as a barista for himself and Lani, a new persona behind the camera this week. Outside, Ryan levels the ground for the installation of a crisp new generator that will serve as our backup in preparation of the oncoming La Nina winds.

That is awful, I'd be so pissed if someone did that. You have an amazingly positive attitude Ryan. Having just watched Bjorn's video about his water supply emergency make sure you have a backup water supply!! I can only imagine some jealous idiots caused the vandalism, probably someone that had been to your nursery recently and knew their way around. Makes me sick to think there are people like that walking about causing mindless damage.

Hi Ryan, I am saddened to hear of the vandalism and destruction that you have had to face. The feeling that one has been violated leaves a very bad taste and helplessness that takes ages to recover from. The senselessness of this act is as with every other like this so difficult to try to understand that the only thing you can do is take stock and get on with life. Power to you for approaching it that way. It was clear to me when we met here in Australia that you had this quality and inner strength. If I was able I would be first in line to offer assistance in any clean up but as distance and the travel does not allow at this time I can only offer my thoughts and the promise to one day come visit to show my personal support. My stomach turned Rian when I hearth about the vandalism that happened at your little piece of heaven! Sad to hear that this has become a universal thing! 😖😞 Here all over Holland hundreds of youths from 12 years upwards are attacking the police with heavy fireworks and stones! Setting fire to cars, bikes, scooters, bus stops, shops and last night in Rotterdam in a zoo a big children amphitheatre was set on fire by a 14-year-old child! It burned down to the ground! 😖😭😱 All around the country stores, hospitals, corona checkpoints are attacked by large mobs and stores are trashed and robed! And everything is filmed and posted on the internet were the get point and are applauded by other young people, like if they were playing a video game?!! The meaninglessness of this all is mind-boggling ?! I think that the corona restrictions are just too much for some people?! 🙄😱🤪 I wish you, your family and crew strength and keep up the faith and most of all stay safe and keep us happy with those wonderful uplifting video's! 👏🙏🙏👍🤞 Cheers from Holland!
