Well done Martin and Sharon for keeping the Vectra. It was and still is a great car, if my memory serves me correctly it won car of the year. I ca understand why Sharon loves it. I have friends who love theirs. Looking forward to the head gasket removal vid. My favourites are when your repairing/replacing parts in cars. Excellent...

I have a opel vectra c 1.6 had a head gasket problem, and paid a mechanic to fix it, it's working fine now. So please keep the vectra c and keep it going.

It's good to mend stuff and keep it going. I have just put my 2002 Volvo V70 D5 back on the road. It needed a new clutch and flywheel, engine mounts, timing belt and water pump. Second hand parts included a turbo (£42 from eBay, works fine!) Intercooler, wheel bearing and alternator. The rear suspension needed a complete rebuild and new springs plus shocks. Financially I would have to say it's a waste of time but it passed the mot and drives really well. At 200k+ miles it should last another 100k now. Better the devil you know!

Thing to remember, Martin, some people can’t help but say stupid things. Why would you scrap a perfectly good car that just needs a bit of work doing to it, that you will be doing yourself and will only cost you the cost of the parts? Some people just don’t understand that it also provides you with content for your channel. Keep up the great work, glad to see you’re all safe and well.

Tip for the head lining, get a drill brush and use that to get the remainder of the head liner foam off. I did my whole head lining in about 5 minutes on a ‘97 Calibra

Very interesting videos as always Martin. Before going to the hassle of doing the head gasket on your Vectra, try putting some K Seal in the cooling system. I’ve used it on my own Vectra C 1.8 and also on an Astra H 1.4 that was losing a litre of coolant a week when I bought it. I added some K seal to the cooling system and within a few days all coolant loss had stopped completely. Used it on a few other cars over the years, all successfully.

Hi Martin, another 'episode',with added humour...good stuff !....I occasionally have a similar 'sticky left hand mirror' with my Jag (its kept usually under/next to a bush, allowing all sorts of crap to enter it ).......on mine.,if you push the whole mirror forwards,it exposes a little 'hole'....so then I spray some WD40 in...work it in a little... and it cures the problem for a good period of time (prob. a year or so)......not sure if this would work on a Mondeo...but maybe worth a try...take care....

Martin when you do the roof lining use high temperature glue, I done mine in my zafira about 4 years ago, first time I used standard spray adhesive and within about 2 hot days it was sagging again, redone it with high temperature spray adhesive and it's still looks new now, if you need any advice let me know, I'm just like you, a DIYer not a professional.

From experience with Rover SD1 and 800/Montego headlinings, if you can get the shell out makes the difference and I can't remember the name of the glue I used but you put it on and used an iron on a medium heat and no steam and worked out from the centre and trimmed off any offcuts after using a glue to make a little lip on the edge on the inside and should be a lasting repair. Using a black cloth or velour hides a lot of sins too. Having it out on your front room floor with plenty of room makes it an easier job than trying to do it on the open ground.
