It's free, the NFTs are separate from the game. They are just there to make (lose) money trading, and to fund this and future projects for Sam's team. The only problem is, there is no tangible game lol. You can wait until they make more cards and eventually sell a physical edition (it's planned) or develop an online game/mod for TTS. You can do the latter yourself, actually. All the main resources are there on the website. Well, at least for one faction, FAKE TECH, the only one that exists for now. It will probably take a while for them to design all the others, but this one alone has 100 cards, all available for free on the website. It's going to be pretty limited because of the lack of factions. Hell, they don't even know if it's playable at all, that's why we are supposed to be the play-testers. If you have enough imagination, study the rules, create a deck somehow somewhere by picking ~40 cards, get a dice/coin and a piece of paper/excel sheet and get another person to do the same - there's your game. I'm not sure a single game has been played by anyone yet, everyone is busy minting and trading the NFTs, so you could be the first. But if you don't want to - you probably don't - I recommend just reading some of the cards on the website under Mondopedia, they are absolutely hilarious.

Sam's been keeping Evan in the slave pens for like, 5 years now though; drip feeding him random schizphrenic ideas as "inspo" I don't think Joyride is even past pre-production; the only person actually working on the code for Joyride is literally just Evan I think; and he also did a ton of stuff for MMB. It seems like Sam might be a pretty alright game designer though; depending on how his card game turns out lol

Cards require Funding Points (FP) to be drawn. Players start with 20FP (20FP is max), players gain +4FP a turn. You win by either giving your own narrative +5pts or reducing the opponents to -5pts. You start by laying down your narrative, a set of three cards that require an Agenda card, a Figurehead card and an Incantation card. You can play these cards at any time, and even interrupt your opponents turn using their abilities. These cards require funding to be used again. These cards are placed in the Think Tank, (3 cards closest to player). The next 3 cards are your Buffer Zone(BuZ), the cards are played all at once if your narrative is attacked, after which they are discarded. After the BuZ is used it remains empty for the rest of the game. The BuZ consists of a Tactic, a Challenge and one creature, (must be a Patsy , Double Agent or Bad Actor). The rest of the cards are playing into the Battle Zone(BaZ). You attack by first destroying all the opponents creatures in the BaZ, have already triggered their BuZ and have your own creature to do the attacking. You can only do one point of damage per turn, (unless you use a plot twist card that also damages the opponents narrative). To improve your own narrative you must spend 10 FP at once, (or use a plot twist card that improves narrative).
