If you dont beleive me, feel free to look the card up. Slight context, you can easily meld at instant speed for 0 mana directly from your library. Like, tutor the meld peices directly onto the battlefield, already melded. Heres the creature: Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon Meld using Dark Magician and Red-eyes Black Dragon, or any Dragon creature with any ability. Indestructible, shroud. 0: destroy target creature an opponent controls, they loose life equal to its base power. Activate only during your first main phase. (You can use this effect a number or times per turn up to number of creatures without abilities used to meld into this creature). Discard a card: (split second) counter target spell or ability. If it was an ability from a creature source, destroy that creature and increase Dragoon's power by 1.

Same here. Yu Gi Oh already seems "off-the-wall" or wild compared to MTG; adding random nonsense didn't improve the video. Gimmicks such as the wheel or hat of punishments only make sense when the format would otherwise be stale and played out. I seem to recall a Cardmarket: Magic video where the hosts mentioned that you should never be afraid to ask a judge when you have a rules question. @jacobisbell9388

@@CaptainMarvel4Ever So the idea behind the fail to find rule is that you actually might not find something. So imagine for a second you played pot of desires, lost 10 cards and don't know what they are, and then play fusion sage to search for a polymerization that no longer exists. Magic says you can do that, you just won't find anything.
@therealax6
@therealax6 Жыл бұрын
@@jacobisbell9388 Moreover (and I know you know this, but I'm elaborating for the people here who don't), since you might not have the required cards in your library, you're never required to find them in the first place. If you have no restrictions on what you can find (it just says "search for a card" or "search for three cards" or something like that), you have to pick that many (or your whole deck if you somehow have less than that). But if there are any requirements at all, no matter how trivial (see Gifts Ungiven: "search your library for four cards with different names" - still counts as a restriction), you can find fewer than that, or even none. Sometimes this might be beneficial for you, so you can do it on purpose.

As someone that used to go to grand prix's, I think the most important things to do are: - Staying hydrated, make sure to drink a lot of water, especially if the venue is hot and full of people - Eating healthy food, before and at a normal lunch time (don't be tempted into fried snack foods that are present usually) - Make sure you walk around in between rounds, preferably outside to get a lot of air and some sun - If possible, try to have a fast pace when playing, so you can finish your matches quickly (this makes sure you don't get into the draw bracket and gives you more time in between rounds to recover) I've done all of these things and I generally can keep my energy up for the whole day. Usually later in the day, I add coffee into the mix, but not before. The boost can help to give your mind a little kickstart. Try to stay away from sugary drinks, or sugar altogether, this completely screws with your energy levels because of the insulin response in your body.

@CaptainMarvel4Ever Жыл бұрын
@@pinobluevogel6458 Oh cool, is Grand Prix the name they give to big Magic events? I kinda like that. Totally agree with all of this though. @@CaptainMarvel4Ever That sounds like a great idea as well. @@pinobluevogel6458 Well I think it’s not just exercise. Having a good well rounded routine in general is a huge help when you’re going to a tournament grinding games out. At a certain point you’re not just tested on game skill but your skill as a person all around (which why I probably never actually win). I feel like no matter what card game the best players are always the ones who have it all together and just play on an exceptional level that day. Oh that’s too bad. Still, more and more stuff has been picking up lately, so fingers crossed. Defiantly an event I want to go to. It being pre Covid explains why I’m not familiar.

I've played both games at least semi competitively and Yugioh is definitely the more immediately complex of the two. The two facts that 1. You don't have a resource to manage and only have a few limitations on how many cards you can play in a turn and 2. That the cards are uber-parasitic (meaning they reference specific other cards all the time) make the it a game where the board state goes from nothing to highly complex in a single turn. Magic takes a few turns before the board state becomes difficult to unravel

@@selfloathingweekly? Phases are similar, chain is similar, battle phase is the literal opposite, which sounds like a big deviation but all it amounts to is, you attack YOUR OPPONENT with all of your mons during a sub phase, THEN your opponent chooses their monsters as attack targets(so you send your army at them, and they choose what to put in danger.) Damage calculation as normal, except it's "healed" at the end phase instead of immediately. So two 1500atk mons can whittle down a 3000atk mon. 80% of mons are a toon(can't attack during the turn it is special summoned) and players DO NOT take excess battle damage, even while in attack position UNLESS a monster has piercing. Tapping is pretty easy to explain, since there's no defense position, you gotta do something with your sideways cards so when your card uses an OPT or attack, you turn it sideways. Lol, if you bothered to read that you pretty much have everything you need. Every summon IS a special summon, your land is your normal summon and used as the cost for most effects and activations since very few cards have "cannot be summoned/set, except by X" or any other kind of condition/restriction to hit the board. TLDR Magic is like everybody playing random rogue decks and most negate effects are banned.

nice fun video, yugi vs kaiba starter decks are always fun to see, but I'd like to see both thoralf and jamin play more advanced or thematic fun decks, with more monster effects, different synergies, extra deck summons and things like that. IMO, ygo isn't thaaat different to mtg, the turn structure and goal are similar. Even more advancend things like spell speeds are somewhat similar to the old system in mtg (spells are sorceries, traps are instants, counter traps are interrupts)

Lol it's funny because they're very similar. Pokemon is like Vanguard in this way and despite all of their differences those two games are still similar to the first pair.

A long time ago, in the ancient time of 2009ish when I was in college, a friend of mine was an actual YGO judge that did tournaments in the summers between semesters. We had about a dozen or so YGO players on campus, and twice that number of MTG players. One day he told me that because I understand how the stack works, I'm instantly qualified to play YGO and I could beat anyone on campus with a very cheap deck. I told me to go to Target and pick up 3 of the Dark World starter boxes ($10 ea), and he built me a deck off that, told me to sleeve up and shuffle up and go murder everyone. And that is exactly what happened, playing against Six Samurai and Light Fairies and some special synchro deck that was popular at the time.

Commenting before watching this in full. Personally, I'm disappointed you didn't give them decks filled with "Lands": Sogen, Umi, Yami, Mountain, & Forest. (& maybe Wasteland, too.) Also, the wheel is a nice touch! Kinda disappointed you seemed to have let them read the manual first.... Anyway, thanks so much for uploading! Looking forward to more like this so far!

This is not the Yu-Gi-Oh channel, but it would be a good idea. I would prefer it if there was a little bit more structure, so even someone going in completely blind can understand what is going on. This video was tons of fun, but it was more the comedic effect of the two players doing some not exactly legal stuff and Leoni coming in correcting them. I feel like I still know very little about Yu-Gi-Oh itself. (apart from starting with 5 cards and having only 1 attack)
