Been to heaps of live gigs, pubs, arenas, festivals etc, but the single best live show I ever saw was Mondo Rock at Balmain Leagues Club in about 1982. They played all the hits and - importantly to me - they looked like they were really enjoying playing. Then they came back out for an encore and brought the house down with "Eagle Rock"

Me too, except we went to the golf course to get balls from the creeks and dams which paid for all the Winnie Reds we could smoke cause selling smokes to kids was all cool at the local corner store back then. All while playing the pinnies and space invaders , every arvo after school. Anyone under 40 has absolutely no idea what was the norm, everyone got bullied , nobody drew the attention of the local cops , cause they'd flog ya when you stepped out of line, if you got a smack in the head you probably deserved it but what happened before cctv and mobiles , was just bliss and people knew how to keep their mouths shut and were real friends that even now talk every week and just laugh at todays PC crap that people call a life. haha

@@davidrichardson9146 haaa, winnie reds. How Australian is that mate?🤣 I'm not a smoker, but yeah when I was a young bloke I did naughty things with me mates like trying smoking such as Winfield reds, Alpine, PJs. We even rolled our own out of bamboo type stuff with dry grass 😊. Also had an old XP falcon we used to bush bash given to me by dad as it ran out of rego and wasnt renewed, could barely see over the dash. But we learned driving skills and the responsibility of getting under the hood. I remember a common occurrence was the linkage (on the tranny, 3 on the tree) would pop out and we'd have to stop, pop the hood and put it back in (we were 13). The local cops knew and visited us one day and just told us to be careful and have fun. Kids these days wouldn't have a clue. Different world mate. 🇦🇺👍🦘

The lyrics is and the music never grows old, just a timeless period in our lives. The Artist gave us something to remain young in our minds, even when the mirror reminds people otherwise, except myself of course. Just can’t understand why that gorgeous young thing who looks very familiar walks right past me. I’m sure it was the girl in Frankston who said, come surfer boy take my hand, let’s go down to the sand. Surely I haven’t changed that much in 60 years? And gave Ross the idea for the song later in 5he 70s. Perhaps, it’s the haircut being too short. Wow, what a dream, her granddaughter sure looked like her.

One of Australia s most underated bands , The Song is not about Nuclear war as mentioned below but actually about signing or not signing with a particular agent or sub agent to gain access to a very popular aussie show called Countdown , hence the term sign up or go underground Daddy cool was rock side of Ross Wilson But Mondo Rock was by far his best musical side in my humble opinion

s oz It could also be interpreted as waiting to hear your song on a radio countdown (like American Top 40).
@9sunskungfu6 жыл бұрын
It was indeed about Nuclear war or the end of the world due to one and the nuclear fallout that followed. I heard them *(Mondo rock) on a radio interview 2 nights ago stating that very fact. I forgot the writers name but he said he had a nightmare he was on a flight and he looked out the window and saw a mushroom cloud out over melbourne then he looked to his right and same thing over sydney. That was the inspiration for this song. The interview was for their 40th anniversary of their debut and 1st hit single "fugitive kind".
