I've got the '24 Crafty Carbon XR and I absolutely love it. It's very quiet already (CX Race motor) and the Ohlins is sweet. Yes removable battery would be nice, but not a big deal as I can charge it off ecoflow in the van, or in airbnb, when doing multi-day trip to bikeparks etc. Got such a screamer of a deal on it 56% off + 3 years 0% .. so yeah, it's going nowhere :D. I might just pickup the new Purion 400 screen though for it, as that does look like a useful change to de-clutter the bars and remove the risk of the big kiox going walkies in a crash

That 2022 model is an unbelievably good looking bike, my god! 🤌🏻 I wish Mondraker had gone all in on the modular battery options… if there was a 400wh battery option (from the SX system?) you could build basically a sub 21kg full power, properly spec’d bike for short blasts then put on a range extender and/or bigger battery for longer rides or shuttle run days. We are so close to the absolute sweet spot for electric trail bikes right now.

That is for sure the best design they had and best ebike design in the market. They should have kept it, update geometry and just add the 600 battery for a light Crafty version like Santa Cruz did with Vala. Instead they chose to limit the seat tube insertion and put that set 800 battery in the down tube making it fatter overall compared to the previous generation😂

@@uskypgmanufacturers can never please everyone. I remember when the last Gen Crafty came out and loads of people complained about no removable battery and the SL had an under-performing shock etc. If they had done as you suggest, people would complain that the battery is smaller than most of the competitors or that it’s fixed (like people did about the Wild). Everyone’s needs are different 🤷🏼‍♂️

@@uskypg There are plenty of bikes with similar seat post insertion issues and they all sell fine, it’s not a big deal for many people. I do agree that it’s not ideal but it’s a trail bike, not a full on enduro bike. I bet they will sell just as well as the previous version… like I said, they can’t please everyone and the fact that you disagree with their design choice won’t make the tiniest bit of difference to them 🤷🏼‍♂️

Only a year too late - I bought the 2024 model in Dec 2023 and was kinda annoyed at the no UDH and non-removable battery, but I can live with it. Although I do want to know if in several years' time, when ebike battery tech is improved, can I swap out the internal battery for a new and improved capacity one/ possibly lighter battery? Manufacturers need to be considering this for their customers. For an industry that wants to be green and show case it gree creds, they need to do this rather than force customers to buy whole new bikes.
