You're such an inspiration and your painting is beautiful! I've been binge watching your videos lol - I'm a watercolour artist but want to try soft pastels. Your videos have been so helpful, thank you!! I just bought my first set, Sennelier Paris Collection (120 half sticks), when they were on sale for 40% off! Right now I'm sorting them by colour and value. I can hardly wait to try them out! 😀

Beautifully impressionistic... Although I enjoy the sound of your voice, but there are times where I mute all sound; including wearing plugs. This way when I open my eyes, I get first impressions of the finished product. This may seem odd to some but, I know the pathway there, i just want to feel the vibration. Throughout the years I've sat in many (a) art galleries all over the Mediterranean. Churches are best at times. Word's seems to write themselves. There are times when you convince me that you don't realize how talented you are, because I have lots of memories to compare your work to. 💜

If you were to seal this painting how would you do it? Would a spray fixative ruined it?

With fear of answering your questions 1&2, because Susan does hold a Black Belt in MA + a BA in reputation. Quite the Gal she is. (Search it) Susan has tons of tutorials on this very subject. Q 2 - yes... But you can use it to your advantage. Q 1 - the jury is still out on that one. But again Susan has lots of stuff she has experienced herself. Tip: You've come to the right place for help. (Sorry Susan, sometimes it's hard to resist.)

Hi Vey, that’s a question I get lots. I never spray fixative at the end of a painting because it darkens it. I will sometimes use fixative during the working process if I purposely want to dark in an area or get some extra layering (since a light coat adds a bit of texture.) I store my completed paintings in clear bags that I get from www.clearbags.com. I simply slip the painting in the bag with a piece of foam core board for support, cut to fit. It’s worked great for me for years and it’s a great way to ship them and also for people to be able to handle them without smudging the paintings. Hope that helps sweetheart.

I personally use only Sennelier Latour fixative, in multiple VERY lean coats. Best fixative I've ever used. Sennelier Latour, if applied correctly, produces no noticeable darkening and sets beautifully. A "seal", however, it's not. It just permits reasonable handling of the art w/o fear of smudging. For protection, frame under glass.

Why do you use craft paper only for tasting colours? I have used it for painting with pastel pencils.Try it. It looks great!
