Beautiful video Alice! Thank you!🙏🏼💝 To me French Chic is practical, minimalist but sophisticated and feminine. Comfort is super important for me but we also need to look presentable and clean. You’re right- vulgarity is not the way! Quality and class is always first!
@johnson2joy3 ай бұрын
Class is becoming an over used word. It really should be about self care and love. I notice more and more women are no longer preparing meals for the family or even themselves as our work culture has become unbalanced and more and more of us are finding fresh food overpriced and in some cases not plentiful compared to processed food which contains sugar and salt. When I was a child growing up in the UK I hardly knew or saw anyone who was over weight and now it is normal to see so many young women under 40 years of age terribly over weight. Vulgarity is pushed in our faces at every turn since sex sells and when it stops selling a return to modesty will be valued once more. French women from a young age have been brought up to value womanhood and generally do practice self care....and clothes & food is just a part of it......

When I wear a long button up or a blouse with tailored pants or pencil skirt everyone asks if I’m going to work. They are surprised when I reply no this is what I feel comfortable in and wear on my off days. It’s easy to be sun safe when wearing chic clothes and I feel more inspired to be productive. I’m working hard to instil self care and refinement into my children’s lives. Thank you for your videos especially from Australia.

This also happens to me. I feel over-dressed all the time...and it could be I'm just wearing a dark blazer and trousers. I live in the US, in an area where this look is seen maybe in the court house....so I have also been asked if I just got out of work. Even at funerals I see people so casual.

French woman keep their figures, it makes such a difference! It’s sad seeing so many obese women here in the US, especially if they are very young. However talked up as fashionable “curves” might be, their self-esteem and confidence takes a huge hit and the extra weight takes at least a decade off their lives. I wish Americans wouldn’t promote such obesity, I love “body acceptance”, so long as it promotes a healthy weight and lifestyle, too. In my case, for example, have to accept that I’ll never have a very defined waist, but I do maintain a healthy weight. It’s not easy, but it it’s hardly impossible, either. Everyone who wants to: keep trying! It can take a while to find what works for you, but keep at it.
@kaze_cat3 ай бұрын
Agree! Most of all re weight and health. Thinking about it and our hunter gatherer ancestors sole purpose was to roam from place to place to find food. That is what food really is…sustenance. Not that we cannot treat ourselves once in a while, but when we overdo it all the time and/or have a high sugar & high junk/fast food diet, we loose the reason why we put food into our mouths, to nourish our bodies at a cellular level…to sustain us. I make most of what I eat (love to cook), and make sure I eat heavy fruits, vegetables and healthy fats, fish and mostly chicken & turkey meats. I’m 64 and 10 lbs within my goal weight, without exercise.

Ok but having curves is beautiful and it’s not the same as being overweight.. I don’t know why people conflate the two. If you are heavily overweight you do not have curves you’re just fat, curves require there to be a line that forms a peak and then curves downward to a valley, not just remain as a peak all the way through.

I've been to Europe small cities and big cities. In less tourist areas, people dress very casually, and not so worried about the fashion. Same for U.S. I just came back from Chicago. In city center, all men and women looked incredible in their wardrobe. Stylish and yet simple. I've also seen many women in Paris wear very provocative clothing. Outside of Milan also. Small city: jeans, t-shirts, and leggings. So, it's very very subjective.

I left you a long detailed comment and I don't know what happened to it, but what I said was, I grew up in Southern California and my mother and my grandmother would NEVER leave the house unless they were dressed up, made up and accessorized, no matter where they went. So from a young age I picked up on that and once I was older, I would never leave the house not put together. Maybe part of it was insecurity in that I always felt the need to wear makeup and look my best, but I just never would let that go. When I had both of my children in the hospital I had makeup on and when people saw the pictures, they thought it was rather interesting to say the least lol... most of them said, wow, you looked fabulous, I looked a wreck when I gave birth! At younger age I was one of those people who dressed overly sexy until right as I was hitting 50 years old. That is when I started to desire a more classy and dignified look. I renovated my wardrobe and started to take on a much more classy and chic style. I'm 55 now and so I'm happy to see this type of content as it is harder for us women as we age to accept that we're not as young as we used to be and that dressing overly sexy is not as ideal anymore. My grandma lived to 92 and my mother is 92 now but transitioned to a nursing home last year. Just a few months before she went in there, I took her see her dentist and when I picked her up to go, she was dressed to the nines, accessorized with all her jewelry, makeup everything, as if we were going to shop on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills! And for the record, we've NEVER shopped there! Anyway, I am encouraged to see these elegant women in your videos, especially your mom and grandmother! Merci, mon amie, for always sharing this wonderful content with all of us...I'll look forward to the next video! 🥰🥂

Love your channel and videos. I've always loved Audrey Hepburn's style. Although she was not French, she definitely had French style. Not sure why so many young women fall into trends, ie. piercings and tattoos. Unfortunately the latest trend that I now see everywhere on 20 something women (and young men) is the septum piercing. This is probably the most unflattering trend, but at least it can be removed without permanent damage. I live in the US and Americans are very lazy when it comes to dressing and style. I see teens going to school in their pajamas. Seems like it all went down hill when work places started allowing casual Friday's.

Money definitely does not buy you class! Staying fit and toned seems to help the clothes look better. Many of the women in this video are very thin but I recommend being fit and healthy rather than trying to attain hard to achieve weight goals that affect your quality of life, especially when you get older. Eat healthy and exercise! My mother said in her day many of her clothes were tailored and structured to fit her as there was no elastic for stretch so you didn't overeat. Your clothes told you when to stop eating. We Americans also over shop and don't invest in good quality clothes that will last for decades. That's why I love Agnes B. My mother, daughter and I all buy from there and I still have pieces from over 20 years ago that my daughter and nieces have their eye on.

. Première chose dans ma journée : me laver, soigner ma peau, me coiffer. I'm so glad that the French continue the 'yardstick' of class, because though I'm British, I have French ancestry, and it must be in my DNA, as from being very young (7 or 8yrs old), I've gravitated to all things French, not just style but the whole culture. The dress code as a young woman in Britain was never as revealing as it is today and now as a 61 year old, I am horrified at how people leave the house. This is not a vanity thing, but respect for one's self, to have dignity for yourself raises the spirit and ripples out. The 'comfortable in our own skin' should translate as caring for yourself, so as others realise they should care also for themselves. That elusive quality the French have is that they are fiercely proud of who they are without undermining others, they are true to themselves and embrace age as it should be, because life is for living and celebrating who we are and shining that light in the world. When we neglect ourselves we are in a low state which doesn't translate well into the world. Show-casing our look, shows others they are important too, it inspires them to take care of themselves and everything around them....and that is why it goes far deeper than clothing, it's a psychological effect and that's the 'je ne ce quoi' that eludes so many that view the French Style.

I bought my first pair of pearl earrings about 3 years ago and wear them every single day.
