I still carry my default card. Sometimes I need to return things, so you need the actual card. Sometimes they don't have Apple Pay at the till, so you need the actual card. Luckily most places take it now, but I don't leave it to chance.

Nice and simple explanation, thank you! I had some issues with Apple Pay at the beginning, it often took two or three tries until the payment worked. The simple reason for me: I didn't look at my phone while paying. When you use Apple Pay, Face ID expects you to look at the phone. My simple solution: 1. Double-click the right button. 2. Look at the phone until the screen says "Hold Near Reader". 3. Hold the top end of the phone near the contactless symbol on the reader. Now Apple Pay works a lot quicker and smoother for me.

sounds dumb but i have the same problem. (coming from android), Every time i try to pay at the cashiers with my phone it doesnt work because the first thing i do is holding my phone near the reader, and then my card pops up on the screen, and even if the face id check is done, nothing happens afterwards. It just keep saying "hold near reader" but nothing happens. So next time i will try your solution :) Thanks

Does the phone have to stay near the reader when you press Touch ID? I’m in the uk so a drive thru requires you to use your right arm to put your phone to the reader. But I’m a lefty so I’ve set it to my left thumb. Would be handy to know if I should swap it over to right.

Really late, but I know my phone can memorize multiple prints so it's sometimes handy to have it recognize both thumbs incase your dominant hand can't unlock your phone or confirm something

The one thing I don’t understand is the one thing none of the tutorials including this one explain. How do you get it on your screen when the phone is unlocked? Lock Screen I figured out double tap the home button. Unlocked in this tutorial he said double tap the power button. All that does for me is lock my phone. If your phone is locked or unlocked, either way does it automatically come up if your phone is near a reader? And if that’s the case by it doesn’t, Any advice?

I use Apple Pay for a while now. It's a lot safer than credit cards. Some credit card readers have to scam thingies that can wipe out your money in a second. It's cool that I can pay items with my phone :)

Try to look in setting if you have the correct ‘Country and Region’. The ‘+’ button should appear in the Wallet App. You can now add a card! You need IOS 10 and above, IPhone 6 and above!

go to checkout and find the button that says "apple pay" and tap on it and it should just ask you to use face id or touch id to confirm your purchase. Then it should be payed for. It shouldn't ask to hold near card reader as it should know you are not in a shop because it's online!

The busses in my area have a new system with a QR code but when my Phone gets close to the marching my Apple Pay pops up. I don't want this to happen. The buses don't take debt cards.
