My parents on the other are like where are you moving to? Have we asked you to pay rent or any bills, remain here until your able to be on your two feet. My sister who finished uni long time ago does not even know the cost of sugar. Well,🙄she probably does because she accompanies to get groceries. Maybe let me say she does not know the cost of electricity or water. For me, I refused that lifestyle. I needed to leave the country to able to live independently and live the adult life.

I moved out at 18 but my kids will be free to stay longer (I wish I had the option). That's the Asian way and I prefer it. That being said, as soon as you start working, you start contributing to the home's budget and if life works great for you, by 30 I will kick you out! Go and adult away from mum's house.

Thank you this is educative show. Such conversations need to be part of schooling systems to ensure generations do what they must do for financial freedom to be a reality in our African culture.
@justinamusyoka49862 жыл бұрын
If it were part of school curriculum,it could be the same ,making no difference because the views here should be many but are not. Like our people they want to embark on soliciting for funds whenever a crises occurs when following this steps is easy and manageable. Good to see your comment.

I like the idea of setting up a family fund for lending out to siblings at a minimal interest.
@justinamusyoka49862 жыл бұрын
Its good idea but hardly works in African set ups where people expect free money. I tried that with my fathers household,they didnt contribute,then i decided to lend some amount to one big brother and repay me after 6 months gradually. He took the money and cut off that discussion.

I beg to disagree,the wealthy family generational wealth was started by one person and the successive generations work to modify that which was set up. Do you see how the kenyan gurus got thousands of acres of land and property,whom do they leave to ?
@jacksonmichael56032 жыл бұрын
@@justinamusyoka4986 he meant dont just invest material things for your kids but invest in them more by teaching them on how to handle wealth..unlike what is done today where parents amass alot of wealth for their kids only to pass it on to their kids who end up wasting it because they lack management knowledge ..

Well it's good talk but the problem is it can only apply to a small percentage of the population who earn a tangible amount but most of the population earn below 20k a month and most of the things adviced here are surely beyond them
@MoneyWiseWithRinaHicks2 жыл бұрын
You just need to start with what you've even if it's a 1000bob
@kap8492 жыл бұрын
It definitely speaks more to the "middle class" but I think the biggest issue is that majority of the people, even those earning over 100K/month, do not have this knowledge. Also you can take the information/knowledge and tailor make it to you. Take advantage of those SACCOS where you can deposit 100 bob. I hope this makes sense.
