Basaverryreddy. He actually drew djokovic his hero in round one at the Australian open. So excited for him. All that grinding last year and now he gets such an amazing opportunity.

Im shocked how good Monfils is looking at age 38, guy won me 60$ on Stake with this win and it was not even close 😁 Do you guys think he has an actual chance in the Australian Open this year? He is looking so good

@brodaism they even did it after Bergs' win. Instead of the handshake, 8 seconds of audience clapping. For me, a match is fully completed with handshake view. It tells us a lot about how the players felt about the match and respect they have for each other.

Basadavareddy seems like a perfect hitting partner in the opening round for Djokovic: can stay in the rally, crafty player but ultimately powerless against the game of Djokovic. And his official height (1.80m) seems a bit overstated, would guess he is 1.75m (not even comparing him to Michelsen but with the netband).

No Power, screamjng to get the ball to land at halfcourt almost every shot, doesn't even seem to be that good of a mover, playing deep from behind the baseline. top 200 in the world is top quality. i think there could be more atp 250s. especially in asia. korea doesnt even have an atp 250 nor does singapore nor does malaysia nor does thailand. yer i get theres european based players in europe but if you live in asia its easy to get to different countries. i think japan has 5 cities that can host atp 250s as well. for example the challenger last week in canberra had Fonseca, Dan Evans, Chris Eubanks just to name a few. even if there were more atp 250s just have the prizemoney smaller for first round and then make it more for progressing. This week there is two atp 250s as there was last week. Why not when its those annoying masters 1000 they could have atp 250s on at the same time. especially if you lost first round on the wednesday. just fly to play a tournament the following monday. 5 days turn around isnt unusual for an athlete certainly not a tennis player

Monfils, Borges (with an impressive win over consensus future top-10 Mensik) , Bergs (thanks for taking out RCB and his atrocious grunts), and...Basavareddy?! What an unexpected, entertaining group of semifinalists. Thought for sure Basavareddy (#133 ranked at 19 y/o) would lose to #41 Michelsen, who's shown quite a bit of promise at 20, but the kid has some impressive tennis. Of course, he's American, but might end up being the best singles tennis player of Indian origin if he has another level to his game and the health to sustain it. Inspirational to at least 1.5 billion people, including this unathletic Indian man ;) Going to be very interesting to see how he stacks up against Monfils, who appears in late-career-best form over the past 3-4 months (having also taken out an admittedly jaded Alcaraz at Cincy). Nishesh is now up to #106, ahead of the far more heralded Joao Fonseca at #112. Let's gooooo!
