Uganda's Bugoma Forest has been threatened by encroachment for decades, but a collective of 5,000 ecofeminists is hard at work protecting the forest. The women have their own radio show, where they discuss the dangers of destroying the forest, and come up with solutions to bring communities together. Many of these women rely on the forest for medicines and firewood. They feel the effects of deforestation strongly, and want to keep the forest safe.
It's not an easy battle, though, because now, about a fifth of the remaining forest could be converted to sugar cane plantation.
