I think that was psychologically realistic how Chandler melted down when he heard "The Bings". Also seeing his parents together and fighting. I think that was well done.

I agree. Ross is a pretty big guy. Any one can do damage if they want to, like use a club or such. So it was not realistic that they laughed.

Friends audiences are pretty inconsistent when it comes to applauding popular guests. I don't want to spoil who the actor is, but Phoebe dates someone later on who's played by a pretty famous person yet his introduction didn't get a reaction. I think it's b/c the writers usually present the guests as characters first before celebrities (except Robin Williams & Billy Crystal).

In my opinion, the Chandler runs away plot was so contrived and out of character for who he'd been for the previous few seasons, especially since he'd stuck around through some obnoxious Monica wedding-planning moments. There were times in this season she was not considerate of his feelings or the feelings of others, but he was all-in regardless. While I understand something seemingly small can trigger a big reaction in someone who's experienced trauma (which his childhood traumas were downplayed in the previous episode for the sake of a father/son reunion), but it doesn't fit Chandler to not tell anyone when he's freaking out. Any other time he's panicked about something, he's always talked to one of the other friends. He would've at least talked to Joey about it. At the time this was airing, there were reports that Matthew Perry was in the process of getting treatment for substance abuse during filming and that impacted the story. I'm not sure if that was true, but it was known that he had addiction issues, and there was that episode that you noted he was hardly in, so that might have been true. I'm shocked that you didn't watch both parts. I wish you would have, because I can't wait to see your reaction to what's in the next episode, and considering you're now at 8x10 in real time viewing, I'm sure you know why we're all anxious to watch your reaction. I can't wait to see your reaction to the next episode through 8x2.
